Last Monday, I weighed 14 stone 4.4 pounds, and today I weigh 14 stone 5.4 pounds, so I have gained a pound this week. I am disappointed because I thought I had had a reasonable week, but I suspect the Christmas and New Year festivities caught up with me in the end.
Never mind, I am feeling positive about 2014, and when I look back to this time last year (i.e. January 2013), I was 15 stone 2.6 pounds, so I have managed to lose almost a stone over the year. I am pleased with that progress.
This year (2014), I would like to get to my goal weight of 12 stone 7 pounds. I am giving myself the target of trying to achieve that by August 2014. I think it will be tough but hopefully achievable if I work hard and put into practice the things I've learned on this weight-loss journey to date. With the support of all the great people on this site, I hope to achieve my goals, and hopefully we will continue to be able to support and encourage each other!
Good luck to everyone with your goals. Here's to a healthy and slimmer New Year!

Happy New Year. Well done on the weight loss over the last 12 months. A small gain this week but I am sure that will go in a day or so.
I've had a very good week and lost 4 lbs of the 9 I had put on. I managed to borrow a neighbours' dog so was able to do some long walks. I ran out of energy on them but it still felt good.
Back to work today, so less walking. That's assuming that I can get through the flood water.
The thing is that you could have easily not lost that weight - due to being fed-up at having put on the excess in the first place, but you have 'got straight back on track' and done amazingly to shift 4 pounds within a week. So definitely a credible and really good loss.
Thanks Lowcal, will try to have another positive week, although away at the weekend, and that's my downfall! Will weigh in on Saturday before I go and then Tuesday!
Hi Lowcal go for that Goal I have put on this week too, but the weekday party alcohol and chocolate every day since mid december is finally over for me!
I intend to lose my 4lbs over the month to put me back to 10.9 today I am 10.13 and a half.
On the plus side this thime last year I was 14.6 so Jan was a lot more challenging.
I intend to sign up for 1/2 marathon for march, I completed my 5 mile run on a very wet and windy New Year's Day on Wednesday and did 10k on Sunday so I am feeling confident on the running front..... Good luck everyone!
Well done on doing your 5 mile run on New Year's Day - sounds challenging in that weather. 10K on Sunday sounds amazing too. Congratulations!
You've done so well during the year - that's a phenomenal weight loss - it gives me hope to keep losing in 2014. I can't wait to be below 14 stone. I did manage to get down to 13 stone 9 pounds at one point in 2013, but unfortunately I put the weight back on again. But I am really feeling positive to try to achieve it this year.
They call 6th January the 'Blues Monday' but actually blue is not a bad colour, and I associate it more with pinks and purples!!!
71.1kgs for me which tips me back into overweight (having made it to 68.6kgs just before Christmas) It wasn't Christmas or New Year particularly but being away at a hotel for a couple of days afterwards at a funeral. I can happily consume several days worth of calories at breakfast on these occasions. But I emphasise the 'happily' and I anticipate that will drop off without me doing anything about it... and I do actually plan doing something about it.
My goal is to get to 60kgs by the end of June. I know from 2013 that 5kgs a quarter is achievable if I maintain my focus. For various reasons, I have been left with an unexpectedly large volume of perishable food to eat up so I am not going to calorie count until that is done (I'd rather eat up slowly than throw it all out or eat it too quickly to enjoy it), but I can I hope get back to my usual level of exercise starting today - I am writing this in my running gear waiting for my lunch to go down. That's not to say that I won't be exercising caution in my choices eg for lunch today I had a fresh peach cut up with clotted cream, preceded by celery soup (just celery sweated in butter and veggie stock, and left chunky like a broth) and didn't have any bread with it.
You've done really well, and I hope you enjoy your exercise session running today, once your lunch has gone down. Hearing about the delicious soup followed by peach with clotted cream sounds very nice! I'm glad I've already eaten! I had scrambled egg and smoked salmon on a granary bread bun with butter. It was really tasty. I didn't have any dessert, just a cup of tea. I only have a dessert in the evening usually.
Haha, sorry yes, talking about that particular substance here may be a bit cruel of me! Yours sounds good too - I have smoked salmon to eat up but not by me as I am veggie.
Evening All. Congrats on your overall weight loss LC and keeping perspective over the xmas period.
Not sure what my real score on the door is - MR SB managed to break the scales - so we have new ones - it seems to weigh a few pounds heavier - or is that my imagination! Last week I was 11 st 13.5 pounds - this week I am exactly the same. I am relatively content with that considering what I have eaten:
2 x curries
1 x fish and chips
2 x Sooper dooper roast dinners.
Not to mention a gallon of wine
I did run a lot- including New years eve and New years day - so i guess this kept the weight loss at bay - what ever it is on the new scales.
This time last year I was 12 stone 12 pounds- so whilst not a spectacular loss since last year it is satisfactory and going in the right direction. We had a 12 pound turkey for xmas day - so for perspective i lifted it and carried it round the house for a few mins - wow 12 pounds is heavy and I am no longer carrying that on my body. So one more of those babies to go and I will be below 11 stone - which will be fab.
Good luck everyone for this week - it would be bliss to report 4 pounds gone - alas it will be more like 1 pound!
Congratulations on managing to stay the same weight - despite all those delicious Christmas meals. They sound delicious! It was a good idea to carry that 12lb turkey around to orientate yourself to how carrying that extra weight feels. I think that's good to remind ourselves of how much extra weight weighs us down.
You've done really well over the year, and it's great that we're starting 2014 with fresh goals to lose more.
Happy New Year everyone! Lot's of activity on here today...sounds like everyone is gearing up ready for 2014. After staying the same last week, Christmas has caught up with me and I'm 2lb heavier today at 11st 10lb, first time I've moved off my maintenance weight of 11.8lb for the last three months. BIG ALARM BELLS GOING OFF HERE PEOPLE!!!
I'm getting down to business! Prin, I plan to meet you at the end of the month 4lb lighter
Happy New Year to you! 2 pounds isn't a lot to have gained over Christmas, but I understand what you're saying about feeling the alarm bells ringing. You sound very motivated, and keen to 'get down to business' and you have a good goal to work towards - losing 4 pounds by the end of the month sounds positive and achievable.
