Just started - have been kidding myself that 'I'm OK' but now diagnosed with Diabetes 2
Good luck munch queen. Have you had a look at low carb diets? This article from Dr Briffa talks about some of the benefits and gives a link to a discussion page for diabetics. drbriffa.com/2012/05/23/dia...
Thanks - I'm going the NHS & MyFitnessPal route at the moment - and walking. Hopefully this will get me on the right track
That sounds like the right track to me
I've managed to lose 4 stone by tracking calories and getting more active. I've made some changes to my diet to have more fruit and veg and less carbs, but mainly because that helps meals feel more satisfying not because I'm trying to follow a special diet.
It must have been a bit of a shock to get the diagnosis, but does that mean that you have access to dietitian? If so, they might be able to provide some diet advice especially to help keep blood sugar under control. My uncle has diabetes and he has to be careful with certain foods that make blood sugar spike, e.g. jam. But I'm not an expert obviously.
Good luck
