Hi, I've just finished week one of the 12 week plan but I find that I'm hungry so much of the time. Can some one help?

Hey, what have you tried? (I'm starting fresh again from today) But last time i started instead of cutting straight to 1400kcal I first changed what i was eating, so for me, I'm a big snacker so the obvious is things like swapping crisps for pretzels or chocolate for fruit, try to look up healthy alternatives to what you would normally eat then start cutting down on the calories, there are some good websites that show healthy breakfasts lunches and dinners too

Don't know if that will help at all :)

Thanks Stephd. My main problem is portion size. In week one I have been counting every calorie that goes into my mouth and keeping it under 1400/day. I just never feel full and then a little while after eating I start getting hunger pains. I've tried making low cal veg soups and putting salad on everything to bulk stuff up but it just doesn't last very long. Anything filling has so many calories. I need to lose about 8 stone because I'm morbidly obese and just very recently have developed health problems. I did lose 5 lbs week one but it doesn't seem like a lot for being hungry most of the time especially when it is probably water loss not fat loss.

Have you tried using something like myfitnesspal. That is what I am using to log food and rather than going for the 1400kcal recommendation I have used their recommendation of 1590 kcals per day which was for 1lb week loss. I actually lost 2 1/2lbs last week, I didn't feel hungry and did go over on some of the days.

Are you drinking enough water? Sometimes it's hard to determine if you are hungry or thirsty. I had severe problems with that at the beginning of my weightloss journey. Now when I am feeling hungry I drink a large glass of water and it usually helps. I wish you lots of success for your weightloss! You can do it!!!

I said this to Millie321 The secret of losing weight is eating small portions of food with no sugar and no Sat Fat. Eat no more than a size of a desert bowl. When you fill full, STOP eating. Rest for 1 hour or 1 hour 30 minutes then Exercise for 30 minutes per day (150 minutes a week) by walking, aerobics weight training etc to burn the calories. Repeat this per day for a month and see the difference,

Good luck friend.

I've found that setting an alarm on my phone to go off every 90minutes reminds me to go and drink a glass of water. I'm now drinking just over 2litres of water a day by using this method. Hope this helps :)

Perhaps try upping the amount of protein you eat, and don't go too low fat. Sometimes it helps to change your diet gradually like StephD has suggested. You don't have to feel hungry to lose weight.

I have found the advice in this link to be helpful, especially for anyone with health problems, although the amount of protein recommended is a bit too high for most people.

Good luck with the weight loss.

Meals made with quinoa and bulgar wheat are filling and do not contain too many calories. add your salad veg, a little olive oil, some spice and enjoy!!

I had exactly same problem. I am now using my fitness pal app and sticking to 1800 calories a day, which is working for me. The amount of calories I can consume will go down with the weight I am losing. It is working for me, and also allows me my vice of the occasional glass of red wine ;)

Hello everyone, I've added more protein and water to my diet and it is helping. I might also be getting used to eating less calories because I'm not as hungry as I was. I am still having problems getting enough exercise though. Thank you all for your support!
