I really want to try this 5:2 diet, as I'm hoping it will be a way for me to loose weight with noticable results. I'm really stuck on what meals to eat however. If anyone knows of any plan they follow themselves, then I would love to know! Also any advice for when doing the fast day would be greatly appreciated

5:2 diet meal ideas/plans?
On a 500 cal day ...I have
Breakfast.... porridge made with 25g porridge oats, water and a dessert spoon of granulated sweetener with 50ml unsweetened almond milk = 106 cals
Lunchtime....homemade veg soup = 70 cals
Dinner....more homemade veg soup, toasted wholemeal pitta bread with 10g low fat humous, 2 slices of wafer thin ham and 2 tbs chopped tomato, cucumber and pepper mix = 325 cals
I drink black coffee and at least 6 pints of water infused with slices of lemon, cucumber and root ginger and some mint leaves (I make this up in big covered jugs and keep it in the fridge.
Well done Soph!
I was never a happy breakfast eater and only ate it because I thought I had to - now I don't eat it any more that saves me calories and I'm far less hungry in the mornings. Then it's pretty much the same as Renka, home-made veg soup for lunch (or you can buy the big tubs of soup in the supermarket such as Glorious Skinny or their own make) and I put lots of veg in the second half in the evening. Now I've lost the weight I wanted to (three stone) I just fast one day a week and tend to just eat an evening meal and lots of black coffee and herbal teas during the day.
If you get Kate Harrison's book "The 5:2 Diet" or her recipe book that links with it you'll get loads more ideas.
Thank you for all your ideas! And gingernut49...you've lost 3 stone?! That is truly inspirational! I hope that with commitment and hardwork I can see the results that I want. Thank you!
As gingernut49 says, you can miss a meal - some people have a breakfast then miss lunch - just so long as you have your 500 cals. Read up on the plan it will guide you - they recommend not exercising on the 500 days, it can make you light headed (as I found out the hard way). I had lost 3 stone on a calorie controlled plan but had reached a 'plateau' so I'm doing the 5:2 to lose the final stone. and it seems to be working.
