Just joined myself... well I like to weigh myself every day first thing in the morning. Although it's suggested weekly. You may fluctuate day to day but say as you fluctuate coincidently by 2lb on your weigh in day, you'd think you haven't any weight even though the day before the scales may say you have. That's how I feel anyway, from experience.

I now weigh daily but I'm no longer trying to lose weight, I do it so regularly because I keep a record for health/fitness reasons. I would not recommend doing it for weight loss as it fluctuates daily and you could see small gains some days due to things like water retention which in turn can be quite depressing and cause you to become disheartened and break your routine.

When I was losing weight, for the first year (ish) I weighed monthly and I was strict and kept to that, then I started weighing weekly for some reason, can't remember what made me switch at the time.

It's important to weigh each time on the same set of scales and to weigh at the same time of day, ie first thing in the morning before breakfast, wearing the same or very similar attire.

I weigh weekly, every Monday after my gym session.

Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Weekly seems to "slow" for me and daily can make you go nuts. I weigh right after I exercise.

Funny you should bring this subject up as I threw my scales out years ago but in that time I have put on 2 st. I don't want to be tied to them but I know that I need routine and motivation I was wondering if I should get some more. I do have old scales in the garage but they are not digital and it's quite hard to tell. hmmm, one for me to ponder over the weekend I think. Good luck lauratherese :-)

hello lauratherese

i suggest if you are trying to loose weight you only weigh yourself once a week. otherwise you will get too obsessed with it. i have been on a diet since January and have lost just over 4 stone and only weighed in once a week. i always do it at the same time every week too.

good luck x
