Is Yoga best way to reduce weight ? wi... - Weight Loss Support
Is Yoga best way to reduce weight ? will it reduce the fat that is accumulated in thighs stomach and hand?
I'm not sure about yoga, but Pilates will help reduce the size of your stomach etc. especially if you use weights as well. It may not reduce weight but it will tone you up and make you healthier.
Hi ammangadevi,
My answer would be no, not really.
I mean all exercise and activity to some degree will use calories and therefore possibly help to burn up some fat - though not always, because your body uses both fat and glycogen (stored carbohydrates) as sources of fuel and any specific exercise might only use glycogen and not use up any of your fat.
The simple answer is that if you want to loose specific areas of fat, then reduce your overall body weight / percentage of fat.
Just how your body distributes its stored fat is pretty much written into your DNA, and each human body on a weight loss programme will reduce fat in different areas first according to that, but if you get your body weight down appropriately, by the end of the weight loss journey you should have lost the fat from all the bits you're wanting.
More strenuous exercise - e.g weights or muscle-toning or muscle-building exercises may well strengthen your ab muscles and permit you to hold your stomach better, but that's not really the same thing as losing the fat.
Good luck with your weight loss journey.
I will say a few good things about yoga. For me it is more interesting than aerobic and other variants including gym. It is not very strenuous and it gives me a boost of energy. You should try it out, especially if you prefer more relaxed exercising at slower pace. I do sometimes include running or some floor exercises but I never regret spending time and energy on yoga, cause it pays back always. Anyhow, if you haven't exercised for some time, you may want to talk to your doctor before.
How I've dropped three dress sizes in six months has been through weights and a cardio class afterwards. Has to be in that order my personal trainer told me that. Or hilt training is good.
Exercises that get you breathing fast (cardiovascular exercises) are the best for losing weight. These include brisk walking, running/jogging, cycline etc.
Yoga does not help you lose weight, although it has benefits, if you have another medical condition, then you need to ensure the teachers know. You avoid all inverts, not suitable for people who are overweight.
Yoga is a good exercise, you can do at home. Yoga helps in many problems and we can do easy asana for out fitness and healthy life.
