Planta ficitiS!
Swimming?
Ty beeK, that will be top of my list
you need to stand on a step with just you toes resting just on the step , then push down with your toes to stretch all the ligaments from the back or the heel and under the foot, I had it for 2 years very painful also if you get a towel around your toes and keep your leg straight and pull the towel to stretch again your foot it works but not straight away you have to keep at it , good luck.
I have had this condition in both feet for nearly 3 years and just had an operation on one foot - op on the other still to happen. Another exercise is to get a golf ball and roll your foot on top of it - massages and stretches the plantar fascia. Walking, although painful, will get a little easier. Of course, you are probably told that if you lose weight it will help - as I was told, but it is a viscious circle because it hurts all the time. Massaging the calf also helps as you will probably find this is very tight.
I didn't try swimming but can see it could be very helpful. Cycling is another that was suggested to me.
Good luck on your journey.
Thankyou bis, I'm sorry to hear of your foot problems also. I didn't know there was an operation for this. How is your foot after the op? I wish u a speedy recovery
After physio didn't work, I had shockwave therapy - very painful, didn't hurt. Steroid injections helped but only masked the symptoms and didn't treat the cause (and weren't expected to). Most people find it easier after maximum 6 months (some less, some more). Mine has been going on since Sept 2010. The foot is better after the op (now 2 months on) but is still painful because other muscles etc in the foot are compensating for the plantar fascia. However, I am pleased I have had it done - thank you for asking and I hope you feel better soon.
Thankyou sunshine I will try this too x
I have this in my left foot following 2 operations to remove Calcaneal Spurs and 1 to remove the scar tissues, I find that rolling my foot on a rolling pin (or carefully on a similar size bottle) can help.
Good luck
Ty x
Hi Nicolaaaa,
I used to get plantar faciitis - it's agonising, isn't it?
It usually clears up by itself, though you can get steroid injections, but many say they're just as painful. (Or so a consultant told me, at any rate)
It's really a matter of pain management until it clears up.
It's often caused by pronation and it's often helpful to get anti-pronation inserts for your shoes -e.g. Orthoheel / Boot's own.
I've finally got to say, that since I've lost weight, I've not had any problem with it at all - for which I am truly thankful.
Hi doikosp, I will try to get some of the inserts. After a couple of days of strapping my foot and pain killers thankfully the pain has eased off somewhat. Dietwise It is one of those days where just feel humongous and do not want to look in the mirror. Probably partially due to not being able to excercise and the maccyds yesterday may have had a bit to do with it. Oops
