Today I got diagnosed with PCOS as I came off the mini pill 8 months ago and have no period since, I very scared the doctors said about putting me on the combined pill to start my period and make them regular. I don’t want to take this pill as me and my partner have been trying for a baby. Please can anyone help me, did you do this and was you able to get pregnant naturally

That's what i was taking the mini pill for about 2 years, i feel like that has caused bigger problems with my peridos. My periods have always been irregular but i use to only go about 6-7 weeks before i started that, I have been diagnosed with pcos, i take metaformin which has helped with my stomach fat and cravings, I'm just waiting on the fertility clijic now to see me regular to see what my options are, hopefully my periods start to come back more regular with the metaformin so i can try to conceive naturally, make sure your doctors do all tests and referr you to a gynaecologist/ fertility clinic, also get your partner to do a semen analysis.
Hi Chazzychaz. The pill isn’t your only treatment option. I agree with Elisha, if you’re trying to conceive then ask your GP to refer you to an NHS fertility clinic. I did that two years ago, after a year off the pill with no periods, including six months on metformin (which works for a lot of people but unfortunately didn’t work for me). It took another six months after that to get through all the tests etc and start treatment, though I’m sure the timeframe varies between NHS trusts. I can say more about the tests if that would be useful.
I was put on letrozole tablets, then had monthly vaginal ultrasounds and monthly injections to make me ovulate. It was quite time-consuming, invasive and emotionally intense, but it did make me ovulate and have periods, which was great. Unfortunately after six months I still wasn’t pregnant, so I took a break from the treatment for a few months for the sake of my mental health. Happily, during that time my cycle continued on its own (though it was irregular) and I then got pregnant, so the treatment seemed to have kickstarted my natural cycle back into action, if that makes sense.
I hope that’s useful, I’d be very happy to answer any Qs you have about the fertility treatment route.
