I've been diagnosed with PCOS for some years now and really struggle at times before my period - I get severe fatigue, pain, discomfort and nausea and often feel unable to work, but have continued to do so for fear of the stigma surrounding time off because of periods.
I have had an Occupational Health assessment through work who advised accommodations such as increased discretional sickness leave, flexible working or time owing. However, HR have basically vetoed these ideas, I think for fear of setting precedents that they don't want other employees to adopt.
Does anyone have any examples of how they manage their symptoms/issues with their employer that could be of benefit in my own circumstance

this is awful. Again the treatment of women in this world still has such a longggg way to go. it’s not I’m off because of my period. If you have a drs note about it snd a diagnosis I don’t see how having one day off a month will set precedents. It’s just pure ignorance. If someone had a broken hand working at a desk job he/she would have time off . If someone had a disability which inhibits he/she from working on a certain day , strategies would be taken to make he/she feel comfortable. I hope you find a solution 🙏🏽 x
thank you for your reply Carly93 . It's nice to know I'm not the only one thinking this way! Awaiting another OH assessment now and restarting the process....fingers crossed I get somewhere this time!
