Pcos.: Hi.I'm 17 years old and got pcos.I... - PCOS UK (Verity)
Pcos.
I have Pcos and was normal weight..until I came off the pill in my 30s. Now I'm technically obese. But I also got married, and changed jobs..so was eating more and moving less. Not all people with pcos are overweight, it just harder to loose weight and easier to put it on.
Do you eat healthily and exercise firstly? I've been eating 800 calories and only now have seen the weight loss. You are a bit young to be taking medications, but obviously ask your doctor. They are likely to prescribe the pill.
Pcos won't kill you but if you want children in the future it's good to do know what you can do help with that. Being a healthy weight is one. I actually lost weight on the pill, which I thought was strange. But might be the hormones that helped thinking back now. I wasn't diagnosed until my late 20s, I never had a normal period up to that point. I do now in my 30s. So its not effected my life as such.
Have a look on the Internet, focus on getting healthy, speak to you doctor and don't worry too much. Everything associated with PCOS, weight, hair , aches, depression, infertility can be managed ..you are not alone. One in 3 people have it i believe, so it is more common that you think.
