PCOS? NOT TTC... just trying to understand because im so confused!!!!! my doctor took one look at my ovaries and told me i have over 16 cysts on each one.. he said it looks like PCOS. i have none of the hormonal symptoms no excessive weight gain, facial hair, irregular periods. my period is on time every month, (33 day cycle). & i was concerned so i decided this month to take a months worth of ovulation tests... i got my first positive today a day before my predicted ovulation date on my app.. so do i not have PCOS? should i tell my doctor this?

You have been diagnosed because you have the cysts. I believe that is PCO rather than PCOS, as you don't have the symptoms, I didn't have them really either. I wasn't that spotty or hairy or overweight, but did have the cysts. I have pcos and have been pregnant, five times..so I must have ovulated. Pcos does not mean you do not ovulate.. it means it is harder to get pregnant as you may not ovulate regularly. Pcos is linked with irregular periods, even though yours sounds fairly regular. It doesn't matter if you do or not really. Its just something to be aware of if you were ttc. Its not going to kill you. You don't really need to do anything. It's more just awareness of your body. It also might not effect you now, doesn't mean it won't in the future.

Hey Sorry to hear you’re a cysty sister!

Pcos is a strange one. I’m like you one look on an ultrasound and was told I have really bad cysts on both ovaries. I do have irregular periods though but when I was younger didn’t really have any other symptoms. Was never overweight etc. I’m ttc atm have been for 2 years now. I also used ovulation strips at first and used to always get positive tests around the time I should have been ovulating but when I told my gynaecologist he said that with pcos you can show as ovulating with the strips but it doesn’t mean you actually have. Something to do with our hormone levels. When I had blood tests it showed I actually wasn’t ovulating.

Like Lisa said just be aware when you do start ttc. You might have times in your life where you do ovulate and times when you don’t.

Lots of love. Xx
