I’m new to the group! I was diagnosed with PCOS beginning of last year so still quite new in to my journey.
One thing that is troubling me is that I am struggling to lose weight (my weight is fluctuating ridiculously I could lose half a stone and then within a week it is back on again and it just goes up and down without any huge change to my diet) I’m exercising four times a week and according to my Apple watch I am burning a lot of calories but nothing seems to be changing and the constant bloating is still occurring to the point where it’s uncomfortable and my clothes I’ve worn to work are then tight on me by the end of the day. I’ve tried slimming world, keto and currently trying to eat less meat to see if that impacts anything.
I’m wondering if anyone has had any success going to see a specialist PCOS nutritionist and if anyone had any recommendations or general recommendations that has struggled the same as I have?
Thanks all
Susie

I'm newly diagnosed, put on metformin but had to be taken off due to side effects. So I'm now currently not on anything and waiting to hear back from endocrinologist.
My weight has spiralled and from what I've read on here and on other pcos sites is that using regular dieting tips wont work. There is special diets for pcos.
I went from a healthy size to being overweight and all the doctor told me was to lose weight and I should get my periods back. I haven't had one in a year now. This is worrying me a bit because I've heard of complications due to not shedding your lining of the womb.
I've decided I'm going to call the endocrinologist on monday again and not take no for an answer because I need help because all of this is very depressing (I suffer from mental health as well).
If you need to chat about anything please feel welcome to message me as I think we are having very similar symptoms and issues around weight loss.
I don’t eat any meat and I cut out most dairy, I eat lactose free I’m not vegan or anything but that, along with joining WW.... I lost 3stone over the past year. Now 7lbs from my goal weight. I would recommend WW to anyone. I’m not on the pill or anything though so I do t know if that would make things harder but I’ve had no problem losing with WW before that I was overweight 😊
Meats your best food choice... simple carbohydrates are the worst! I eat gluten free lacto free and low sugar. Pcos means most people suffer with insulin resistance. Unused carbohydrates convert to sugar in your body.. lower carb intake low sugar and you will be winning the battle In no time. Lacto free as pcos also means most people have a low level gut infection (hence the bloat and pain) it's the lactose that feeds this so remove it..
This is just from personal experience and a lot of research. I'm 4 stone down and feeling really good. Not one remedy will suit everyone but it's a start.
PS I dont eat rice, pasta or potatoes and only gluten free bread a few times a week.. it's tough and you need to be prepared and focused.
In my case I eat lots of soups, vegetables, white meat, tuna, eggs, dairy free milk, avocado, fruit, brown pasta, flaxseed, apple rice and bread (Rye German bread) apple cyder vinegar and olive oil as condiments. It’s not always easy but I dropped 4kg in 4 months (including huge meals at Christmas and a 10 day holiday abroad. The result is not bad. I also take supplements. I need to take blood tests on day 3 to check if FSH & LH ratio improved.
Thanks so much everyone. Seems like everyone is sort of saying the same thing. Lowering the carbs will probably be the hardest part for me. Anything to stop the constant bloating and bloating pain that comes is definitely worth trying.
