Ooh this is an interesting read!

I’ve been veggie for 30-odd years (I’m now 37) and am currently undergoing IVF. Diagnosed with PCOS years ago.

Whilst I don’t think I would personally switch back to meat, it raises an interesting point. I was told by my dr to aim for 70g of protein a day during treatment so began tracking my intake. This is really hard for a vegetarian to hit!

I really upped my protein intake though and lost 2 stone in the process which really surprised me. I’d been eating fairly healthily before but I’m convinced it was the change in my protein/carb/fats ratio that did it as I was taking in a similar amount of calories. Like many of us with PCOS I’d tried every diet under the sun and hadn’t shifted any weight.

Ooh interesting - I eat a lot of veggie stuff like lentils and blue pleas (great UK site called Hodmedods which grow all in the UK so I like all they produce) and don't eat a massive amount of carbs (sadly the beans do have similar amount of carbs to protein) and find it much easier to lose weight gradually. Is difficult just to up he protein though, what sort of things do you eat?

Good luck with the IVF - I had reflexology between my two IUI attempts and conceived Noah who is 13 (I was 36), the only difference between the two was the reflexology!

Thank you! Ooh I’ve been thinking about looking into reflexology.

I used to try to avoid processed foods but unfortunately the only way I found I could really up my protein was by eating lots of what I call ‘fake meat’ (quorn and whatnot) or protein powder. And like you say lots of good beans and lentils etc.

Also I should have added that I’ve been at that clinic for a loooong time so the weight loss was over a period of about 18 months so not too fast x

I had reflexology every week so may be worth a try, good stress reliever too as it can be a bit tense!! My hubbie had rubbish sperm too that didn't help.

Not too keen on the quorn stuff I have to say lol - still a good loss and slow and steady always wins. I did theanswertopcos diet (was called something else then as it was 10 years ago and its the only diet I lost weight on and pretty much kept it off since I lost it (I fluctuate by a stone) - but 50 this year so in my view it is face or waist so my waist has extra lol. Two ladies did it at the same time as me and both lost 7 stone and conceived naturally.

Camelina Seeds are good source of protein (just ordering more things from Hodmedods lol)
