PCOS amd metormin
I have. Found the side effects awful and didn't make much difference to me. Better diet and taking inositol supplement helped me more. But if your not TTC hormone contraception is the best way to manage I've found. Just my experiences
Thank you.I am.on this site due to endo and pcs but a family member is going through this with PCOS so i though i would enquire. She is wanting to concieve in the future has not had periods for 2yrs and suffers from migraines. So cannot have the pill. This was offered and she is worried about the side effects. And the fact it is a medicine for diabetics.Thank you so much for your reply
Metformin worked for me! I wasn’t having periods or ovulating and therefore couldn’t conceive so was put on metformin…side effects not too bad for me just a bit of nausea but it did make me ovulate again and I took it all through both my pregnancies - I definitely think it’s worth a try! Good luck
Oh thank you for your reply. My relative was quite taken a back at being offered a diabetic medicine. And seems.too worried to try it.I am so happy it worked for you.Do you mind me.asking how long this medicine took to see any results x
I think it is to do with the fact that PCOS can be caused by insulin resistance so it helps 🤷🏻♀️ Worked within the first month of taking it, made me ovulate that month - obviously the rest of my symptoms took a little longer then to sort themselves out. X
Most people struggle with the side effects of Metformin. Many women prefer to take Myo and D chiro inositol 40:1 or Berberine . These supplements help in lowering blood sugar after meals. Myo and D chiro inositol also improves fertility ,increases mood and decreases hunger and cravings associated with pcos . Please feel free to do your own research on these great supplements.Hope this helps , I know Myo and D Chiro inositol 40:1 helped me x
I’ve been in metformin for 17 years. When I first started taking it I had nausea for around 3 weeks but then once my body adjusted to it it went away. If you have bad side effects you can try the slow release version and/or a different brand. That works for 2 other people I know who take it. It’s been great for me I feel so much better on it.
Thank you Kath.We hadnt heard of a diabetic tablet used for PCOS before. So its so nice to get peoples experiences in this.Obviously if it re starts menstral cycles its worth a try.It doesnt sound as scary now as it first seemed. So glad you have felt better. And great advice about the slow release tablets aswell.x
Hiya I've been on metoformin for a while and I haven't had no luck with restoring my peiords but I hope it works for you 😊

Hi, I'm a practitioner that has dealt with some PCOS patients in the past. Metformin is very similar to Myo-Inositol, and has been shown to be effective in the treatment in people with PCOS. However, as someone stated below some individuals do experience some side effects. If you choose to supplement inositol i'd suggest 2x2g/day for 6 months.
Hope this helps,
James
Hi I had no menstrual cycles and when I got put on Metformin it took about 6 months but then I started to get irregular cycles (ranging between 35-70 days). I’ve since been put on Letrozole which has got me regular and having cycles about 30 days but still not pregnant yet 🤞🏻
