Hi

I am wondering, if I have been taking the pill and it elevates PCOS symptoms, what happens when I have had the menopause and I stop taking the pill?

Do we get an explosion of symptoms?

I am 50 soon so might be not too long before I find out.

😱

Yup I'm 50 in May, I am still on the combined pill so am waiting and seeing what happens - I presume I would probably go on HRT when I come off the pill as I dont want to be a fat, hairy 50 year old as Im chubby and slightly hairy 49 year old but it is copeable!!

Hi Hols969

Sounds like we are the Guinea pigs?

There doesn't seem to be much imfo about older pcos ladies. I have seen that eventually things do calm down but not till we are really old.

My mum didn't have HRT. She was one of the lucky ones, so what if I take after her?

I never had much trouble with periods (when I had them, lol)

I am gonna try to stick to low GI diet hopefully keep the weight down!

lol yup - I think it does vary from person to person, as I am on the combined pill now then I presume HRT will be the route I will go as every time I came off the pill I put on weight rapidly and turned into more of a yeti than normal!!!

There are a few older verity ladies but there doesnt seem to be much research on menopause and pcos!!

theanswertopcos diet is really good and I consistently lose weight on it, I tend to fluctuate a little by about a stone but did the diet 8 years or so ago and have pretty much maintained it.
