Hi!

I was diagnosed with PCOS three years ago and only recently Iā€™ve been experiencing major hair loss. The top of my scalp is balding, itā€™s super irritated and Iā€™m losing A LOT of hair.

Anyone got any advice or tips on how to prevent this and share their experiences? Iā€™m freaking out and donā€™t want it to get worse :(

Diets, supplements, vitamins- il try anything.

Thanks!

The combined pill can help, I also found that cutting my hair short made it look thicker as well - I found it quite depressing when the plug hole kept filling up in the shower, but I dont notice it so much now. I think the hair loss is one of the worst symptoms of pcos as it is very difficult to disguise.

Try to control your testosterone levels. I am having the same symptoms. Acne and hairfall. I started a low carb and high protein diet, omega 3 supplements and using hair oil to control the hairfall(started recently so donā€™t know whether it will work). I am also taking spearmint tea twice and flaxseed 2 tbsp in a day. There is also a medicine for it but i have heard that when u stop, the symptoms starts again and the side effects of this medications are really bad. This is what i read about it ā€œSpironolactone is the drug often prescribed for PCOS hair loss. It fits into this receptor site (like a key) and stops testosterone getting in there. However, whilst doing this it also causes a lot of damage. It disrupts ovulation, estrogen metabolism, and adrenal function, so itā€™s most likely causing more harm than good. I will go into more detail on Spiro in future posts. For now, remember that Spiro is the (not particularly effective) quick fix that may be doing you more harm than good.ā€

Hope it helps.
