Hi everyone, so glad to find a community here. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS after not having a period for 6 months (and counting) once I stopped taking the pill. I have high levels of testosterone and polycystic ovaries but no other symptoms. My GP wants to get me back on the pill but I don't see how this is a long-term solution. Surely I will get artificial withdrawal bleeds, but in the future when I want to get pregnant, I will be right where I am today with no period and no solution. I have asked for an insulin test to see if there is anything there, but I'm confused as to why there isn't more advice on getting my period back without resorting to the pill. Has anyone had success with a long term solution to absent period that will give me peace of mind on fertility?

I am in a similar boat to you. I could tell you my story but I don’t think you’d want to read an essay 😂 but I will tell you I was diagnosed at the age of 16 because I stopped getting periods.
If you don’t mind me asking, how is your diet and do you struggle with your weight? The reason I ask is because I have come off the pill after spending this year loosing weight and eating clean and I have had pretty regular periods since....
Thanks for replying! Glad to hear you're getting regular periods now.
Personally, I've never had any problems related to diet and weight - I'm active, do yoga, have a healthy BMI of 21.5 and eat a balanced vegetarian diet since last November (vegan for a month but have reintroduced fish in for the health benefits). I'm getting my insulin tested tomorrow but my GP said she doubts I'm pre-diabetic or have insulin resistance because I'm "slim" and "petite". Bit shit that holistic health/fitness is judged on outer appearance but I guess that's how it is.
