Having using this forum since finding out I have PCOS - and it being very supportive, I thought I would write my journey. It may help others.
May 2016, found out I was pregnant, July 2016 miscarried whilst in China teaching over the summer. 4 months before I started period again. Nov to April ovulation testing and loosing my mind, stopped doing tests for month as it was so mentally hard. I was ranging between 24 and 38 days between periods. August 2017 had enough and bit the bullet, went to Gp who was very supportive refered me to fertility clinic in Hartlepool. App within a few week, lots of blood test. Met amazing consultant who diagnosed me with PCOS and mild hyperthyroidism (I had no idea about either). After two hours of explaining what this was I was very emotional and got quite down for the next few weeks. He put me on Metformin. Never in my life had I been able to loose weight, thinking it was my fault. Within 3 months of Metformin, 8000 steps a day, high wholewheat and protein I lost a stone and a half. (Metformin made me sick for about 3 weeks, but symptoms disappeared after that) within these three months started thyroid tablets. Felt like a new person. Within a month of taking both sets of tablets I had fallen pregnant after 2 years of trying! I am now 18 weeks!
This is just my journey and everyone is different. But I hope it may bring comfort to some. Please go to Gp and ask for referral. If I hadn't I would still be in the same position. Keep smiling.. Xx
