Gynaecologist appointment.. advice needed

I was referred to gynae for very heavy erratic bleeding and pain. I got my first appointment today, when the speculum was inserted before it was even beginning to be opened i had very very severe pain.. it is the worst pain i have ever experienced in my life, i had a smear test, a pipeline biopsy and also another biopsy was taken.. i am worried sick that i have some sort of cancer as i am unsure what the second biopsy is to check for.

I also had an internal scan which i experienced no pain with at all.

Has anyone any idea why the speculum was so extremely painful? I have had this done numerous times before with no problems, has anyone any ideas why i had so much pain?

The gynae also wanted to fit a mirena coil which he was unable to do due to the amount of pain i was experiencing.. this wasnt uncomfortable this was the worst pain possible.

Has anyone any ideas or advice?

I know that anxiety and tension can make it much more painful, did they suggest anything, did they discuss endometriosis as well with you ?

The thing is though im used to having smear tests and the speculum has never been uncomfortable never mind extremely painful so i was particuarly nervous or anxious.

No i just know that the pipeline is to test for endonetriosis as i goggled it, he didnt explain anything at all and now i am worried what the other biopsy is to check for. Do you have any idea what they check for on a biopsy? My first thought is cancer and i cannot get this idea out of my head.

It was so painful i was screaming in pain and the nurse had to practicaly hold me down on the bed.

The gynae was very unhelpful he just said atleast next time you know it will be uncomfotable.. if that was the case i could deal with that but this was extreme pain which i am not happy to go through at all again.

I have another appointment on 14/3/18 where he wants to fit the mirena coil that he was unable to do yesterday because i was in so much pain. I cannot go through the pain i went through yesterday again, as if the speculum is causing severe pain how can i have the coil fitted.. can this be done under anesthetic?

Sorry for all the questions.

Oh nice gynae, I'm sure that attitude was very helpful!!

The one thing I would say is don't google anything to do with a biopsy as you ALWAYS find the negatives and never the positives, they are doing a thorough investigation so I am sure it will be to rule something out and not necessarily cancer.

Can you go on the combined pill, as that is an alternative to the coil as I have to say I would be reluctant to try it again so soon. They should be able to advise why it is so painful and what may be the cause of it. Is it endo that could cause the pain (I don't know enough about endo to advise). I wouldn't want the coil inserted even under anesthetic in case the pain continues for whatever reason - I would keep it clear for now, just so you can see what is going on down there!

Sorry not much help as I don't really have much knowledge or heard of it on Verity, from other ladies, to do with biopsies.

When should you expect the results ??

Ive been on combined pill and had constant bleeding. Was on depo injection but was switched to the implant and GP requested for it to be taken out after 7 months due to my mental health deteriorating as a result of the implant. When the implant was taken out i was put on the POP cerezette which worked well for over three years but my periods started again in august just past so i was told to run 2 packs together until i was bleed free for 6 weeks but its still didnt stop the bleeding or pain. So my GP stopped the pill in january to see how i was without it but things just went downhill even further fron then. Gynae says my only option is the mirena combined pill, POP, or mirena coil. And surgery isnt an option at present as the coil needs to be tried first.

He says about 3 weeks, i have a follow up on the 14th march and he wants to put the coil in then. Im terrified.

What happens if i refuse another internal due to the extreme pain?

How long does it take for a smear result to come back?

Not what you're looking for?
