Artisan loaf

I was really pleased with this bread I made today. It was just like it had come from a bakers even if I do say so myself! unlike the one I made yesterday which didn’t rise.

I used oat milk and fresh yeast which they have started selling on the new food stall at the pub across the green. So I’ve been trying to make use of it whilst it’s there.

I read up a bit before making it this time and apparently a good pinch of salt gives a better crust and also so does heating a baking tray up and then when you put the bread in pour a cup of hot water into the tray and leave in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes and then quickly remove the water. This is to provide steam which gives a better loaf but is only effective for the first 5 minutes of baking.

I was pleased with this as it’s a lot of wasted ingredients if it doesn’t work out.

Ali 🙂🌱

Oh wow Ali, that looks so professional. I've had lunch but could eat it again now.

When are you setting up your own bakery, you could easily sell that.😋🍞

Haha not sure about that. I think it’s the fresh yeast that’s the magic ingredients. I hope they still sell it after lockdown!

You've got the knack I would say, it looks stunning. Fresh yeast is so good and I haven't seen fresh yeast for years, that's all I used to use years ago. I hope they do still sell it when all this is over so you can keep making your stunning bread. :)
