Hi All

When ordering my repeat prescription yesterday I saw on my Doctors web site that the NHS has an NHS111 to use if you don't need 999

I didn't know about this....I don't know if you do

Derbyshire was one of the pilot schemes last year for this. Susan used this 111 number last winter when I had three infections one after the other. The service and the doctor on call were excellent. We would be very interested to hear other peoples views on this service.

Lincolnshire had the trial too, I think it has been available for about a year. Haven't tried it out yet, wonder if there is any chance any of its personnel know anything at all about vasculitis? Our next door neighbour has just been put in charge of the now official 111 service in Lincolnshire, so perhaps I should educate him, or ask him to research and pass on the knowledge?

I for one think it is a brilliant idea. Why not point him to our website or give him a route map.

I had to use the 111 service when we were in Lincolnshire. They asked all the questions, then called the ambulance!! I'm sure it will be good for a lot of problems if it takes away the unnecessary 999 calls.

Hi. I have been a member of the forum for just a short time. I have WG. I have also been partially responsible for the implementation of 111 in the Midlands area, as I am an NHS employee. Its a great service designed to ensure that all patients get to see the right health professional, at the right time. The launch has been a soft launch at first to help get things going, but there will be campaigns to raise public awareness as time goes on. The message is really to always call your GP surgery out of hours, and they will give you instructions either to dial 111, or your call may be automatically diverted depending on the type of service your GP surgery has in place.
