This might be totally unrelated to my husband's WG but he has had chronic back ache for 2 weeks now. He says the pain seems to go right round to the front as well. Doctor just gives him pain killers which are not touching it. He wondered whether it could be some sort of infection or inflammation round his lungs - anyone any thoughts?

More than Back Ache
Hi Nadine
It might be totally unrelated to his WG but then again ...... Whether it is or it isn't related then obviously something needs to be done. Is the pain more in his back and chest from waist level up rather than a lower back pain? I had something similar, mine was silent reflux as a result of the medication. If the pain meds aren't working then perhaps a phone call to the consultant's office on Monday.

John had this about 8 years ago..it was the WG.... inflamation of the muscles attached to the diaphragm and the ribs..it became increasingly worse so he finished up in A&E. On another occasion he also suffered inflamation of the intercostal muscles attached to the rib cage which also caused him great pain. This was also the WG.
I suggest you check it out to be on the safe side.
All the best
Susan
Thank you both. I think you sufferers get to know your own bodies and my husband just knows that it's not a pulled muscle. Hopefully we will hear from Addenbrookes on Monday for a first appointment, hopefully won't take too long. Our doctor is absolutely useless as mentioned in a previous question.
The pain is more in his back & chest, not his lower back,
How was it diagnosed and what was the treatment you received?
The pain John experienced was never in his lower back. John's pain started in his shoulder and upper back, the pain eventually became worse and it affected his breathing. After the trip to A&E and an over night stay with oxygen, the consultant increased John's prednisolone for a while.
Hi i suffer with lower back pain and like John in my shoulder too but just had a orticortisone injection in my shoulder and it has helped my back too, i think with WG it is trial and error all the time and the more i read the more things are becoming related to it, as for Doctors they dont understand and i think if one of their patients suffers with something as rare as WG they should go and be Jened up on it so they no people need to be treated immediately, hope you get sorted soon .....
