I read that Pfizer is the better vaccination to have if you have Vasculitis or Lupus? Bit confusing.
Vaccinations : I read that Pfizer is the... - Vasculitis UK
Vaccinations
Do you have the links /research to this please ?
I heard it on Vasculitis Institute site - American - as I had AZ first so must have same for second jab even though other countries are happy to mix...,maybe third booster will be different. . I had very bad stomach pain after my first vaccination of AZ and its now 17 weeks between the first and second so may not work too well now!
I've read there's risks of heart damage with pfizer. I need a vaccination myself. Probably shouldn't have googled it.... I have vasculitis and myocarditis via covid infection. So I have no idea of what to opt for. I will need one eventually.
Yes can you give the link to this please?
But realistically most patients don’t have any choice re which vaccine to get. We are honestly lucky to be getting anything at all. Even in very complex cases there aren’t usually alternative options.
I was given the choice when I was booked in for my first vaccine, I asked my GP to advise me (he was booking the app and fully aware of my history) , he said he honestly wouldn’t put one above the other. I went for the Astra Zeneca but would have been equally happy with Pfizer . As Viv said most people don’t get a choice, however if you’re in the younger age group, under 40 I think it is that they will give you an alternative to AZ now
I wasn't given a choice of vaccine even though I have a history of EGPA and PE. I was worried about taking Astra Zeneca, however the drive to vaccinate UK population has overcome any risk in my case. I don't believe enough considerations were given to evaluate personal risks. Although I reported side effect of bleeding with massive clots after first vaccine, which didn't lead anywhere.
Reading messages here, my GP/ consultant didn't provide any assistance with vaccine choices. I believe to be disadvantaged by not having this support from my consultant/ GP and not being able to make informed decision.
Hi Shella, I have GPA Vasculitis and have had both jabs of the Pfizer Vaccine. In May after my second dose I had my booked appointment with my consultant and asked the same question. I was told that “we don’t yet know about the efficacy of the Vaccines on Immune Compromised individuals but the Pfizer version has the highest efficacy (at the time) so we have decided that gives the group the best chance of fighting it. Nick
My wife has had three Pfizer (3) and she has had no side effects. We live in France
Dear shella,
YES it IS all very confusing..... the main 'thing' though is TO HAVE BOTH THE VACCINES , you have NO 'Protection' without. It is now, increasingly Likely, that Immuno-Supressed 'Folk', like ourselves, Will 'get a third 'Booster' Jab- probably in September.
The exact Vaccine, that you had, probably won't make 'Much Difference', in the Longer Term, in any event. So, as I have 'said' many times before..... Don't Worry Too Much.
Seriously I WOULD 'Leave It', just a bit longer, then contact your own Doctor for further advice. In the Mean Time just continue to 'Be Careful'. The 119, 'Dedicated' Covid Help Line, ARE actually Very Helpful so, if you ARE still worried, give them a call.
In the Mean Time 'Sit Tight' shella.... you Will be Fine babe- we ALL will.
