Confused

I have had Iga vasculitis for about 18 years. Swollen feet and ankles and constant pain in my joints. I take colchicine and dapson for this condition and also warfarin for a replaced aortic valve. Please can someone tell me if it is safe to take the Covid vaccine. I will be getting the Astra Zeneca one in India. There are so many opinions that I am confused and thought it would be best to ask on this group.

Probably best if you asked your doctor but I have not heard of anyone with vasculitis being unable to have a Covid-19 vaccine. The Oxford Astra Zeneca is not a live vaccine so it is safe for someone with a weakened immune system

Thank you for replying. I am seeing my cardiologist on Tuesday. I will also see my Rheumatologist and ask him. The problem in India is that no one doctor oversees your medical treatment. We have different doctors for the various ailments and none of them coordinate with each other. So it’s a real hash at times. But very grateful for your help.

Hi Pearlon. I can’t comment on some of your meds but my Daughter has had a replacement Aortic Valve and is taking Warfarin and she has had the AstraZeneca Jab. She was warned it may affect her a little more and it did, she had a bit of a fever and Headache but it only lasted 36 hours.

Thank you so much. It helps to know this before I take the jab.

I have EGPA vasculitis and I have had both pfizer vaccinations with zero side effects. I take azathioprine, dapsone, predisolone and the rest daily and I get rituximab every 6 months. My rituximab was delayed because they wanted me to get vaccinated first. So I have to wait 2 months for it now. Good luck with your vaccination 😊
