I have had MPA for about eight years.I am due to have a general anaesthetic for a hernia operation in a couple of weeks.
I spoke to my renal consultant last Monday and he had no real concerns about the operation. He did however say that I should increase my prednisilone dosage from 5mg to 10mg per day for a couple of days either side of the op.

Yes you should, be fine, just make sure the Anaesthetist is aware of your Condition. Generally they come, to see you, prior to Surgery- If not ask to see him/ her. I have had Surgery, a number of times, though not recently. Notwithstanding any, pre existing, Conditions that have caused 'Problems/ Trouble', in the past.....
That sounds standard procedure ..we used to do this dental patients who were taking prednisolone.
John has had 4 GA’s and 5 operations since his diagnosis of GPA. It is essential that the doctors carrying out the operation work with the doctors who oversee your Vasculitis. Team Work... John’s urologist told John he knew nothing about Vasculitis somwhen John had his carcinoma of the bladder surgically removed, the urologist, anaesthetist and Vasculitis Consultant held a team meeting a week before the operation
