Hi all, I eventually got a phone call from my consultant, yesterday. He said my esr was raised but not too much. He is referring me to an endocrinologist, but still maintains that because my serum electrolytes have been ok, that my adrenal glands should be functioning ok... However, he will still refer me, and has mentioned a dexamethasone test, as opposed to synacthen.. Im not sure why. He also wants me to discontinue mycophenolate and begin azathioprine. His rationale being, that another immunosuppressant might suit me better and I may feel better with that treatment,. Also, he said that azathioprine works differently to mycophenolate. So Im now waiting for results of my Tpmt test to return, which will tell him if I am suitable to take azathioprine. Im staying on 1mg of pred in the meantime. Comments welcome folks. PS: thanks to all that gave me advice about this 🐱

I am on azathioprine for more than 3 years without any problems. The only side effects I had was abdominal pain the first week I started it.
I would say if you are on 1mg of preds without big problems then your adrenal glands are probably producing cortisol.
Good luck with the new medication!
Good luck. X
