Walk the Worcestershire Way: Saturday's itinerary

For anybody that thought they'd like to pop along but wondered what the plan might be, here it is. At final count, the walking team now consists of Martyn, Hazel, Kelly, Martin, Steve, Sara, Rob, Gary, Hayley, Alan, Chris and Sarah. A round dozen brave or made adventurers.

The plan is for us to meet in Dog Lane car park, Bewdley, DY12 2EG at 05:30. There won't be many 6'4" blokes in green T shirts looking very worried at that time of the day, so I should be easy to spot.

Walkers will need to complete a registration/disclaimer form, and receive copies of some maps, guide book and pin badges courtesy of the council. If everyone arrives on time we should be away by 06:00. Thereafter the itinerary could look something like this, though truth be known we would be anywhere!

Rest Stop 1 ETA 09:30

Our first planned rest and rehydration point will be somewhere along Wynniattes Way, Abberley, WR6 6DA, near the school. Our marshal will be wearing a hi-visibility vests provided to assist with identification.

Rest Stop 2 ETA 13:30

Our second planned rest and rehydration point; this is the final rest and marshal stop before Malvern. Again, our marshal will be wearing a hi-visibility vests provided to assist with identification. The meet point is the car park of The Talbot, situated in Knightwick, WR6 5PH. Regrettably there will be 11 miles left from here (the pub does some cracking food and has a beautiful beer garden situated on the banks of the gently meandering River Teme in the shadow of Ankerdine Hill. This would be a good point for people who wanted to cheer us on, to (a) keep us out of the bar, and (b) motivate us to do the last leg. As Chris informs me, the last third is the worst third.

Finishing Line ETA 18:00 to 20:00

The walk finishes at a map point on the wall opposite the Tourist Information Office in Great Malvern on Wells Road, WR14 2AA.

Walkers then have a further 100m or so to walk to assemble at the Foley Arms for celebration and refreshment, where a few folks are planning to gather for a quiet and respectful celebration of victory and blisters! Local parking is available on the streets in Malvern.

You are all very welcome to pop along, or ring me on the day if you wanted to know where we might be (contact me by Message and I will pass you my number).
