Walk the Worcestershire Way countdown

Well, it's now just 6 days to the "big" walk and I think I'm feeling prepared.

I've got the water stops planned and volunteers to marshall and dish water out (long range forecast indicates this is a wise move). I've got maps and route plans printed for each walker. A disclaimer for people to sign. And nearly £4k of sponsorship collected so far, and plenty of local awareness. So far so good.

As for me, I've got tubigrips prepared for my Achilles. 3 new pairs of socks for the day for dry changes. Lycra wear to stop chafing where it's not required. Spray blaster and blister plasters for the inevitable. Dextrose tablets. Diaoralyte electrolytes to prevent cramp. Energy drinks. Morphine sulphate tablets to take in the morning, and an emergency stash of tramadol and ibuprofen just in case.

It's a shame my fitness has not enjoyed the same level of preparation given the damage to my Achilles in April, and the spead of paralysis in both lengths, but I have the motivation of all of you and all the good friends that are supporting me to hopefully get me up and down the hills and over the finishing line.

Now it's a question of sitting back, watching the weather forecast, ringing round to confirm final arrangements, and making lots of sandwiches to last the day through :)

You really are a star Martyn. Thanks for all you are doing. We at Vasculitis UK can't thank you enough for raising awareness and funds. However, please take extra special care of yourself. If it gets too much then please don't push yourself over the limit and make yourself ill - you have enough to contend with as it is.

In the theatre they would say "break a leg" but under the circumstances I don't think that is appropriate. Just have a wonderful day.
