Hi,
My health insurance wouldn't provide CBT for tinnitus, but applied for separately later, agreed to 10 sessions for Depression.
I've spoken to the organisation (I'm being deliberately vague on names/details here but it is a household name ) that would provide the CBT about wanting to specifically address the tinnitus.
They have come back to say they don't have anyone with experience but that they have an experienced Therapist who has researched the protocol treatment that they would use and they have offered a call to discuss.
My option is finding someone off the BACP counselling list, who has tinnitus listed under their areas of experience, and seeing if they are recognised by my insurer or going with the pre-approved organisation as above.
I have a gut feeling that the household name organisation should have people of a certain standard epxerience, and would be less hassle to organise....but obviously their peoople not having direct experience of working with tinnitus is a concern.
What do you think?
Thanks,
