CBT for Tinnitus

Hi, has anyone tried Debbie Featherstone’s CBT for T course? She is recommended by Tinnitus UK. I am going to enrol in it as at has great reviews. If it will reduce my T, it will be well worth it! What do you all think?

Hello N - yes, I have read great reviews as well . Top reviewed CBT therapist specialising in T , she sounds like she is "worth her weight in gold" - you should definately go for this . I am using the OTO app for therapies at times ( not as much as I should though) but its not the same as having a specified routine with a therapist , as you are more likely to work through it all. Hope all is going well with you

thanks Suz, i think i’ll try it. The T is so distressing, if CBT can quieten it down to what is used to be (non bothersome), it’ll be worth it. Let’s chat soon

Hi, I have spoken to a few folks who have used her service and they different opinions on her CBT. I think if you are comfortable using a self pace online tool with not too much virtual/face to face counseling then I think this is a good CBT for tinnitus. Just one thing, I don't think Tinnitus UK specifically 'recommend' her as I believe they try to stay neutral on specific service providers (although she is on the website as a corp sponsor plus CBT is of course recommend as having high evidence of having positive impact on our T, I know for me it was the cornerstone of living well with my T). Stay safe

thanks for your reply. If it’s the cornerstone of living well for you, that gives me encouragement to try it.

Hi Hidden CBT is a very good way of coping with T . It helped me come to terms with the sound(s) in my ears. This course is primarily online. That wouldn't have worked for me but it may well work for you. Think about what you need in terms of person to person contact. Good luck!

thanks for the advice. I live in France and it’s not easy to find someone face to face so i will try Debbie Featherstone - and she does a couple of zoom sessions which gives some personal contact. 🤞🤞

hi N - I looked her website and i think it looks really good and specifically for T- and the price is reasonable . I see that you can separately purchase more 1 to 1 consultations with DF if you feel the need . I am going to go for this as well , its worth a try , as my T has become more bothersome this past 6 weeks.

There are CBT therapists in Aberdeen, where I live, but they are not specialised in T and they would be much more expensive ( charge by the hour) and also the time travelling in to see them.

yes let’s both do it and encourage each other’s progress. I did my first evaluation and DF suggested i do course with 2 zoom sessions.

No . But I am a registered psychologist with T. It will no doubt help your coping and perceptions of your T . But wont reduce T itself.
