CBT for Tinnitus

Hi, Can anyone recommend a CBT provider who does CBT for tinnitus please? I'm ideally looking for 121 sessions, either F2F or online.

I can't seem to find anyone in my local area who specialises in tinnitus.

Thanks

Realistically, sds111, I think you're looking at online providers of CBT-based support rather than in-person, but I stand to be gratefully corrected if our members can signpost you.

The Tinnitus E-Programme is a long established service run by Debbie Featherstone - their Tinnitus UK profile can be found here: tinnitus.org.uk/join-the-ca...

OtO offer a digital tinnitus therapy programme for your smartphone - tinnitus.org.uk/join-the-ca...

The Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Network offer online and in-person tinnitus assessment with the option to pursue specialist consultation - tinnitus.org.uk/join-the-ca...

Similar to OtO's approach is Tinnibot - mindear.com/post/how-can-ti...

I'm sure other members have their own suggestions.

I can recommend the Oto app. It’s very good. They do offer 121 sessions via zoom. They certainly helped me.

Was it the app only or the 121 sessions you got help from?

to be honest, both! I started with the app. A little session everyday. It’s all about keeping calm mindfulness and positive thinking. I completed the course but felt a needed a little more to help get to the next stage. I had four sessions. 45 mins at a time. She gave me things to try. I think it helped talking to someone. Makes you feel more positive! Obviously your paying for the privilege! These therapists have Tinnitus themselves so they understand what you’re going through. I’ve had T for nearly 9 months. Good and bad days. Not quite habituated yet but slowly getting there.. anxiety still there a bit so I dip back into the app and go over some mindfulness stuff. Good luck!

Give the app a go. You get 7 days free trial then it’s £10 a month. I find listening to audiobooks is a good distraction. Keep strong. You’ll get there..

I found a CBT counsellor on the Psychology Today website. You can put your postcode in and find someone near you. My counsellor did online, over the phone and in person. I chose over the phone. He wasn't a T specialist but he was still help me. Hope you find what's right for you.
