It’s certain that if you improve your health then your perception of tinnitus will improve. Whilst there’s no “cure” as such - dont spend any money unless advocated here by forum items or by Tinnitus UK - there are things you can do.
To improve your overall health then I expect your diet needs some help, in order to reduce your weight. The NHS has a good eating plan - go to The NHS Eatwell Guide. Your local authority (mine is the county council, yours might be different) probably sponsors some free or low-cost classes to help you lose weight, you would be amongst others who have the same overweight that you do so you won’t be alone.

My pulsating tinnitus gets very loud it really worried me too, I was concerned of tumours etc. Over the last 2 years I’ve had 3 consultation with ENT and 3 MRI ‘s all is fine and nothing to worry about.
I will say I’m fit and healthy, I work out 4 times a week and do lots of walking. After a gym workout or Run my T is always worse but usually settles soon after. It’s a fair trade off for me as feeling fit and exercising helps me mentally. If. being fit and healthy stopped the tinnitus it would mean there is a cure and unfortunately there isn’t one..
To cope I stay grateful that I only have tinnitus. There are far worse things to be diagnosed with. one of my sons recently went through leukaemia treatment. I understand fully How stressful and hard it can be to live with T but try not to let it stop you from living a fulfilled happy life. X
Hello, I seem to remember that Tinnitus UK posted on Facebook a few weeks ago, saying that losing weight would help. You might find the article on their webpage. However the people commenting said weight made no difference.
Had tinnitus for 50 years and I have always felt that if you are feeling down it’s worse. You tend to concentrate on it far more. If you have a head cold it’s worse. I have just lost two stone for diabetes reasons and tinnitus remains the same. Being upbeat is the only treatment to ease the symptoms. Good luck
It can be very distressing when tinnitus takes over your life, there are a few simple things you can try to ease it, it will never go away. I use a programme that gives you simple chair exercises to do. The idea is to focus on something else other than tinnitus, especially on those bad days. I do have associated hearing loss and use hearing aids to improve sound, but listening to music or audiobooks with headphones at a comfortable volume can ease the tinnitus. I think it’s called habituation whereby you are distracted from tinnitus and the brain is trained to focus on other sounds. Some of us use white noise or sounds of nature, the sea and waves crashing against the shoreline can help with the tinnitus. Lots of views on this, but Tinnitus UK have some very helpful information and tips and tricks to deal with this very unpleasant condition. I wish you well.
severe tinnitus feels so scary, and varies when we’re stressed and worried. I understand how you’re feeling. I find if I take control of the things I can regarding my health I do, I’m trying to get used to tinnitus and doing all the masking, distracting that I can. As your hearing is ok it’s very unlikely to be anything else other than tinnitus. It’s just that us sufferers have to find a way to live with it the best we can. Sending blessings 💐your not alone
