I always get ear wax that needs removing every 2 or 3 years via syringing. I am currently using Olive Oil as a treatment in view of COVID.
Any recommendations as to whether Bicarbonate or Peroxide off the shelf treatments are any better?

I use Earol Olive Oil Spray - more expersive but so effective and worth ever penny! Wish I used it years ago.....
Thanks for the reply. Does the spray have a better way of penetrating and breaking down the ear wax? Have you use Olive Oil drops in the past as a comparison?
Hi Robert
The delivery system provided by the spray certainly seems to help as it is focused into the ear where the dreaded wax is seated. This reduces mess as the dose is carefully controlled. It is also easy to carry out the spraying procedure yourself. The quality of the Olive Oil also seems to be first rate. Also, because the oil is in this specially sealed small bottle with a discrete spray, it is easy to warm in your hand and is secure against contamination
I use earol too which I find really good
It may be possible to get your ears suctioned on the nhs. Long waiting list probably. My doc recommends bicarbonate of soda drops (costs very little from the pharmacy.).
I have to get my ears suctioned privately, over £100, because I can’t wait several weeks for the NHS if indeed they still allow it.
The therapist said NOT to use olive oil if you have hearing aids, nor bicarbonate of soda as she says it’s too harsh (indeed I had an ear bleed using the drops so I can’t use bicarbonate any more). So I use nothing, now!!!
I’m sure you find my remarks immensely helpful ........ !!
I have had suction once, but I found it more disturbing than the irrigation procedure. I have found out that you can get your ears suctioned privately from Boots (and others) for about £50. I do not have hearing aids so bicarbonate is still an option.
Just be careful I had my ears microsuction at specsavers £55 and since then 4 days ago I have constant humming and static noise in ear. Not helped that I can only hear from this ear deaf in other
I thought one of my Bluetooth ear buds for listening to my phone had stopped working until my husband popped them in his ears and said they’re both the same and absolutely fine. It’s my right ear. I stuck it awkwardly into my left ear and lo and behold, I could hear quite clearly! Either I need that ear syringing or my hearing has seriously deteriorated. I have noticed it’s gotten worse but it could be wax. Some days my tinnitus is horrendous with a strong feeling of pressure from inside my ears, outwards. Any tips?
Hi I had trouble with wax as I wear two HA this went on for about three years and I tried everything to no avail, so made an appointment with my local ENT and they said try sodium bicarbonate ear drops, I now use these and to date, my wax has been kept at bay I use 3 to4 props in each ear every 14 days and a regular check-up once a year for my ears. ENT said they have never seen a cleaner pair of ears hope this helps
Dave
I am thinking that sodium bicarbonate ear drops are the way to go.
