Hi Rob. Good question. I don't know the answer . My T started in one ear and several years later in the other . I asked ENT doc why I have it in both ears but only deaf in one and she said there's no rhyme or reason. Maybe she just didn't know 😉
hi Rob y- when the T started it was always strong on left side and i could barely hear it on my right side and now its stronger after a few noises incidents (with speakers) have u had noise incidents recently?
Hi! It’s more common in both ears, than in one. I ‘ve had T in both ears for a long time. But for 2 years I had another overlapping horrible sound in one ear. When only in one ear, doctors should check on a tiny , tiny NON-cancerous tumour in the ear called Schwannoma. Don't worry! But you should go to a specialist. Good health!
This is exactly what I have had - T in left side for many years has extended to right side over last 12 months. I saw an audiologist last year and she remarked that T is 'normally on both sides', so perhaps I've had it lucky for so long! One wonders if this is anything to do with Covid (I've had the jabs, but not the thing itself, as far as I'm aware), the ageing process, or just natural progression. The sound tends to be different, with a hissing in the left but more of a whistle in the right. I've also noticed more of an ear wax problem over the last 18 months, so this could be a contributing factor...?
Sorry I don’t know what you mean by T in your ears. Mine has always been in my head. Feels in the middle of my brain and nothing to do with ears or being to one side or the other.
Perhaps i should have asked where do you perceive the noise to be, aware its really in the head but mine has definitely represented itself in my left ear until now.
i do get the full ear symptom which seems to be stronger when the T is worse so perhaps that has influenced this.
The "perception" of it my right ear has now receded so as always with T who knows what it's up to.
