This is what I have been worried about as my ears are clear at the moment but every 2 to 3 years I get wax build up and in the winter I the cold I get pain. So rely on the Dr/nurse to sringe it every few years
However now I have suffered acoustic shock/trauma not sure if I'm going to be able to have sringing again
I have tried in the past to do it myself bit never been able to get any wax out
However I think I always left it to get compacted before I tried
So my plan is to start putting oil in my ears every now and then to keep it soft and use a water sringer gently to get water to gently flush out the ears
I'm hoping that will work
However if someone can suggest a professional that could do this that would be helpful and I'd be interested to know aswell
Hi,I have had Mr T for 3 months now in left ear only so all very new to it all.
I did have ear wax removal at surgery of both ears over a month ago but when attending a hearing test the Audiologist said that there was still wax in my left ear. I went back to my GP who referred me for micro suctioning which I had never experienced before. I explained I had T in left ear so he checked and sanctioned that ear as well. He is sending me for a scan just to eliminate any other issues that might be there and give me peace of mind as regards to my hearing is 💯 its just Mr T.
I will continue to put olive oil in both my ears every 2 weeks to keep wax soften and hopefully avoid build up and going through ear wax removal. I did prefer the suctioning as found more gentle.
Hello, you can get tinnitus from ear syringing, you need to be very careful doing it yourself, I wouldn’t risk it personally. You can buy a spray called Otosan, it’s all natural ingredients, they reckon that regular use eliminates excess wax. It gets good reviews on Amazon. You are supposed to use it once every day. Something to consider, maybe. I’ve used it from time to time but I don’t have problems with wax.
I’ve also got hyperacusis and tinnitus and a few years back now needed earwax removal. I didn’t want syringing as that can make tinnitus worse and can’t tolerate the sound of ear suction. An audiologist recommended a nurse at a health centre in Leeds. She was brilliant and manually got the wax out. It only took a few minutes. Are you under the care of an audiologist, maybe they’d be able to recommend someone?
Hi - I have my ear wax removed about once per year manually - this is done at the BMI Hospital (now Circle Health ) by an ENT consultant ( costs me about £150
Hi I'm not sure where one would be near to you, but I went to an audiologist in Wimborne in Dorset near where I live and told I didn't want suction as scared of making tinnitus worse and she was very kind and used a torch and scraper. If you find any audiologists near where you are just email them like I did and hopefully you'll find one just as nice. It does hurt a bit, but soon over xx
