is anyone taking erfa thyroid

i am having problems getting right dose. cannot go by blood tests. i would like some help.this is a d.i. y.

I'm taking Armour so similar. What dose are you on and how are you splitting it? How long have you been taking it, what symptoms do you have and what wer you blood test results please? Xx

doctor at hospital decreased my dose down to 90m.g. said i was t3 toxic on 120m.g blood test at 90 m.g. was f.t.4. 12.1---f.t.3--4.4--t.s.h.o.o1. she said i was to stay on this dose. 26 days. i stayed on this dose, how i did it i dont know. i was falling to the floor. very weak could not walk. went back to hospital in wheel chair. doctor said my symptoms did not go with blood test results. so i have slowly worked my way up. 3m.g for 6 weeks. felt great for 3weeks. then went down on 1st april. started 3.1/2mg. local doctor said it was pointless having blood tests, you are doing your own thing. felt good last 2 days, not so good today. weak . morning temps last 3 days-36.7- 36.2 -36.6 pulse 91--82---72. feel i have lost the plot. ill for years. i know i cannot go by blood tests. taking for 1 year. not splitting it. was good for 6 weeks last year, taking 150.m.g.then went down. hope you can help. sorry brain fog. doctors all go by blood test. this is no good for me. this is why i have been ill for 12 years.

Hi - please could you confirm the ranges for your blood tests on 90mg?

Sorry I am a bit confused by your doses. Are you now on 3.5 grains, up from 3 grains on the 1st April? What dose was the 150mg - was that 150mcg of thyroxine or 1.5 grains of Erfa, or something else?

Have you been on thyroxine and if so what dosage?

i was on thyroxine 100 could not get on with it. dr. skinner started me on erfa. 3 weeks well on 3m.g. then went down. the day i started 31/2 m.g. temp morning was36.5.went up to 36.9 on 5th 7th. april up to37c. thinking i might be taking to much.felt well yesterday down today--------yes it was i.5 erfa. sorry i am not good with questions right now, bad brain fog. does temp and pulse go up when you increase dose.9th april36.7 . looks like i am near my mark. what do you think. should i stay on 3.1/2or drop to 3.1/4. thank you so much for your help. dont wont to mess myself up again. what do you think of my temps. hope you understand.

Hi again - 37 degrees looks good for your temperature. Yes temp usually goes up with an increase and sometimes pulse too, although I find my pulse often speeds up when I need an increase.

Often when I increase I feel better for a day or two and the worse with hypo symptoms for a week or so, and then things settle and I feel better.

I'm not sure what to suggest re your dosage. It might be sensible to drop to 3 1/4 grains and see how you go with that - I have to increase in 1/4 grains, but I do seem particularly sensitive to changes. Or you could carry on with 3 1/2 grains and see if things settle.

When are you next due to see Dr S? If not for a while then might be worth ringing him for advice.

you are being of help. thank you. i could not make out why i had been so well yesterday, and bad today. not happened before. i will see how i go on 31/2m.g. keeping eye on temps the longest i have been well in 12 years is 6 weeks . this is hell. dr. s is not. . easy to get hold of, either away, or no answer to phone call. i saw him in january this year.i was well. taking 3m.g. he did write to hospital. about them decreaseing my dose. told them i was not t3 toxic. he told me to go by how you feel dont worry about temps. i like to know where i am. how are you, what dose do you take.

I am taking 2.5 grains and am feeling pretty well now, but it has taken me over a year to raise my dose this high. I have had lots of problems on the way but he helpful people here have given me suggestions and lots of support. I have written. Series of blogs of my experiences on Armour, if you are interested?
