Hi

Has anyone done this test? 24 hour urine hormone test? If so, any advice for me? I'm not sure when to stop meds for it

Cheers

Simon

as my lady has to carry this out prior to our next appt. at barts ----this is what I was told by the knowledgeable nurse-------the test is for hormone and calcium content , you should keep to your normal meds and start the first collection on your SECOND wee of the day and finish on the FIRST wee the next day ------they also have to have the full sample within three days [ideally] but never more than 5days...hope this helps

Yeah great thanks! I'm doing it tomorrow so ill bear all that in mind. Funny, dr P suggested a stopped all meds before hand. I've had a grain this morning so I'm going to leave it at that till I've done these tests. I've got to go through the day on only 1.5 litres! Lol shikes!

forgot to ask 'why 1.5 litres ==== we were given a GALLON bottle=====1.5lts seems abnormally small for a 24 hr test -----any thoughts !!!!!

we was told by barts TO CARRY ON WITH THE NORMAL MEDICATIONS THAT WERE BEING TAKEN AS THIS WOULD GIVE A CORRECT READING OF THE HORMONE AND CALCIUM LEVELS because if you stop/increase meds it WILL give a false reading to your normal levels and then allow for incomplete diagnosis and further treatment [but you have to tell them and make them aware of the EXACT way you carried out the test ] really hope you get on well and any treatment helps.....don't forget to blog the good things as well as the bad======all info DOES help us to improve our own situation

Yes of course I will! Gets confusing when you get told two different things, on more than one occasion! I sometimes wonder if dr P is on the ball lol I bloody hope he is considering what I have to pay out for....!

Haha! I hope Dr P is on the ball too as have just seen him and am doing the urine test but he seemed rather vague about how long to stop my Erfa for. Bit expensive to mess it up! Can't get hold of him to ask either. How did your turn out and how long did you stop the meds for prior to the test? Thanks.

why pay.....the choose and book system can and does work......it may appear that dr p don't know what pitch he/she is on let alone where the damn ball is .....sorry but this type of INCOMPETANCE grates on me so much ---I have my own phrase for idiots like this ----THEY ARE ABOUT AS YOUSFUL AS THE LAST JEWISH POPE GIVING HOLY COMMUNION TO AN IMMAM-----and I think that sums it up completely......after all if you are having a test [ whatever ] the test is for IT IS IMPORTANT FOR THE RESULTS TO BE TAKEN AS IF IT WAS A NORMAL DAY/NIGHT including your normal food/exercise/meds etc otherwise you would not give the correct reading on the test ======and remember I have no formal medical training [but I think that is obvious ] ======just don't get toooooo confused sit back think and then make your informed decision IT'S YOUR BODY AND WELLBEING AFTER ALL....we all on this site are with you every step of the way
