Considering NDT... Any advice warmly welcomed.

Brief history:-

1996 after birth of first child - hyperactive. Treated with carbimazole. Back to normal after 18 months. 2001 after birth of second child - fluctuating levels. Treated with carbimazole AND levothyroxine together. Developed thyroid eye disease. Levels uncontrollable. Decision made for complete thyroidectomy. 3 months later, 3 stone weight gain PLUS all symptoms of hypo: tiredness, fatigue, aching joints, aching muscles, cold fingers/toes, nerve tingling etc. etc. etc. Saw Dr. Peatfield 2012, started on various supplements: probiotics, fish oils, vit. C, adrenal and thyroid supplement. Didn't feel much different so stopped but have now made the decision to begin again seriously to get all levels to an adequate place to start NDT. I know for a fact my adrenals are shot to bits so they are the first things to put right. One thing I did do on Dr. Peatfield's advice was to lower t4 (as it seemed I was t4 toxic) and add t3 which has made things slightly better.

i found levo made me feel dreadful and gave me uncontrollable high bp, t3 started giving me af...........so i am now on only ndt, armour, and seem to be fine........if anything better than i was on t3 & armour combined.

armour seems to be the only one that works for me without dreadful side effects. though the af from t3 seemed to take a long time to catch up with me
