I have been working out since New Years Day, changed my diet, and have only lost 8lb, I also feel sensitive to the cold and always feel tired, very often having nanna naps, I have had blood tests a couple of years ago but always come back 'normal'

Hi, i have had an underactive thyroid since 1992 the symptoms i noticed before i was diagnosed sensitive to cold always tired would fall asleep often always have cold hands and feet and weight gain if i were you i would ask your doctor for another blood test to check for underactive thyroid. As for itchy legs i do get itchy arms and legs but not sure if that is a symptom of underactive thyroid.

Hi Jane here my first post! I was diagnosed about 30 months ago and the reason I went to the doctor was a persistent itch which I had had for ma y months ! Of course I did have other symptoms too but I thought they were post menopausal!

yes do get checked for thyroid, however I wanted to say that itchy legs (especially lower) and/or arms are also a symptom of low vitamin B12, so is fatigue. So asked to be checked for this too.

Hi It can be lots of things but mine is simple dreadful when my diabetes is very bad.Diabetes can produce lots of unexpected , odd, symptoms, Itchy though is quite common. Definitely worth being tests, glucose tolerance ( blood ) and ideally Hb A1c test.

I am off to the GP this morning, I too have itchy skin, and also realized that other symptoms I have I put down to the menopause. so armed with my "list", some of which seem to be a mixture of both hyper and hypo , I will wait and see .

I have had a mixture of Hypo andHyper symptoms even though I am Hypo. I think this is recognised at least by some doctors. I had shaking hands both before I was diagnosed which intially cleared up on being given T4 but came back then disappeared again when my medication was changed to T3 and Vitamin D. If you havent been tested for the menopause ask for it as It can stop doctors blaming all your symptoms on your age. If you work tell them how the symptoms are affecting your job as they seem to understand this more than how it affects your life in general. good luck

thanks Kath, doctor did listen and I am having a barrage of test done, starting with fasting bloods. At least he did seem keen to help, and listened to me.
