Hi ,I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis,I haven't felt well for past three years ,lightheaded ,brain fog ( very bad ) earache and depression.im was on thyroxine 100mg,my last lab tests which I paid for privately were tsh 10.780. ,ft4 10.5. and ft3 3.5. My thyroid specialist has upped my thyroxine to 125 mg . From what I've researched I think my ft3 is too low and maybe I need t3 aswell .Can someone give me some advice please as not sure whether to ask for this when I next see him ,thanks .

I would say that all your test results are the wrong side of normal. Your TSH is way to high and no wonder your T4 and T3 readings are low. It may be that the increase you have had may start to work but it may be that you need a further increase to bring your TSH to a much lower level of around 1 (or less in some cases) and your T4 to the higher part of the range. Then if you are still feeling unwell it may be that you would need some T3 in there.

Have you had your Vit D, B12, Iron/ferritin tested? Do you take any supplements like selenium and zinc for conversion?

Hi I agree but without ranges impossible to tell. I need my FT3 to be almost at the top of range and T4 usually should be about a third of the way from the top. It mainly depends on how you feel + blood tests. A good specialist is more daring than a GP. The TSH is lowered by t3 so depends on the result + range of TSH if GP will give you T3. A good endo goes by how you feel not just bloods.I have Hashi too. Also make sure you have had all the other relevant tests, especially vit D and diabetes, and B12 and Folic acid, Ferritin , mostly all hormonal and autoimmune and so of course, effect the thyroid. With the correct treatment you should feel better.T3 normally lowers the TSH, weight and some of the other symptoms, if needed.

Hi ,Thankyou so much for your comments,I have low vitamin d which I'm on tablets for ,b12,iron came back ok,but was told by my doctor to drink lots of milk.

I am seeing my specialist in two weeks because he wants to see how I feel now he's put my levo up from 100mg to 125 mg,been on this new dose for a month now but to be honest I still feel unwell ,tiredness, brain fog and lightheaded is the worst though, especially when I'm out walking around feels worse ,I went and bought selenium and b12 and started taking them aswell hoping it might help but still feel unwell still,

I keep thinking it could be because my t3 is low ( 3.5) so maybe if he adds cytomal aswell it might help me.
