I think there is something wrong with the FT4 as you have typed it?

Could you check and post back?

Rod

The ranges all look a bit odd actually! Please confirm that these are UK blood test results - thanks! :-) x

No they aren't UK ranges they are Italian ones as I am stuck in Italy very unwell at present. And no the FT4 says my result is 3 but the range is 0.8 -1.8. So I have very high TSH showing hypothyroid my Free T3 is in range and my T4 is high. I have hasimotos and have for 20 years but these just seem wierd

Hi Mia

Thought they looked different! :-)

Ok - so, are you on any thyroid treatment?

What sort of symptoms are you having?

Louise

Sorry Mia - brain not working.

That TSH is inappropriate and really needs to be investigated by someone who understands and is in a position to order appropriate tests.

And the parathyroid issue also needs proper investigation - out of range calcium is not good. And is discussed at length here:

I am exhausted, cold hands and feet, putting on weight, high blood pressure, joint pains, swelling in hands and feet, chest pain, mental confusion. As well as hasimotos I have been diagnosed with sarcoidosis and coeliacs disease. They also think I have hyperparathyroidism I was originally on 200mcg Thyroxine then in November although my TSH had risen from 11.7 to 47 they reduced my thyroxine to 50mcg on Friday when it was 110 they have increased it to 100 mcg

Hi Mine PTH and calcium very high too.If calcium ( corrected calcium ) is above range, essential you have it retested along with PTH and vit D AM at the SAME time. ( I see a good endo) ,most people docs etc do not know that D also important. If all high or 2 high and D high for YOU and you have stopped the vit D tablets at least for 3 months as need to if calcium high. Then essential you have a PTH nuclear scan, large specialist hospitals and CT done with it , then ultra sound of thyroid, for enlargement and nodules. Biopsy if anything found. I assume you are under a good endo? If not ,you need to be.I have Hashimotos too. If lump on PTH not too serious but must be removed. If clcium high, an electrolyte and you need the others done in U`s and E`s ( kidney function blood tests ).

I hope this gives you some ideas.

I have had the PTH nuclear scan but at that time my calcium was at the very top of the normal range so they decided to wait. My Vit D is fine. Now my calcium is above range I think they will operate plus my kidney function blood tests and 24 hr urine collection appear to be fine. However I have never had such a high TSH a high T4 and a normal T3 before it seems very bizarre but they have tested it 3 times but I don't know what it means.

Something wrong with your pituitary is my guess.

They thought that at first but extensive tests have ruled that out, I have now been stuck here in Italy for a year getting more and more unwell my BP reached 220/110 last week and my heart is now affected. I have severe osteoporosis have broken both my collar bone and my wrist in 6 months and am now basically housebound as I have also developed Ménière's disease and have constant vertigo. They think it is hormonal but can't decide on a treatment.
