Unfortunately, all I can tell you is that I have had it for around 50 years! But I have only been diagnosed hypothyroid for a couple of years or so.

Did you try an anti-histamine as someone suggested?

Have you been tested for vitamin B12, folates, vitamin D, iron/ferritin? All can be low and cause issues. And most particularly they can continue to go down even when treated for hypothyroidism. If you have been tested, please post the results. If not, I urge you to ask your doctor to test for them.

Hi. I have found that certain things exacerbate the tinnitus and that opposite protocols may reduce it in intensity.

What increases it for me

1. Sugar, in particular fruit sugar

2. Tiredness

3 Low Zinc

4 Quinine e.g. tonic water

5 Aspirin

6 Insufficient fluid intake

7 Stress

8 Continuing loud noise

Having said that, we are at present working in Manila which frustrates and infuriates, where the traffic is stifling and the poverty is pervasive, where the urban sprawl is daunting and utter chaos and confusion reign and where the tinnitus seems rather better perhaps because of the warm sunshine? I know that I sleep much much better with the white noise of the air conditioning at night.

I think as ever it is an individual thing and what works for one, may not work for all.

Hi tinnitus was one of my first symptoms....in both ears.had ears checked and also had slight hearing loss in my left ear which is common too. Tiredness and stress seem to make it worse and I haven't found anything to make it better yet. I have learned to ignore it for most of the time x
