If this has been since your dose increase then perhaps it would be a good idea to not take it for one day and see what happens. Missing one day isn't going to do any harm but might give you enough of an indication as to whether you are on too high a dose. It does sound like it from what you are saying.

How did you feel on 25mcg? Perhaps an increase to just 50mcg a day would have been best to start with. Some people don't tolerate large increases in dose.

Have you had the following tests done?

Serum iron

Ferritin

Vitamin B12

Folate

Vitamin D

If not, see if you can get them done. If any of them are below optimal you will have trouble using the thyroxine at the cellular level and this may explain your symptoms. Don't accept "normal" as an answer for any of these tests, get the actual numbers. Your results need to be well inside the range, not the lower end of the range.

I hope this helps a little.

I think Carolyn is right. Usually dose increases are gradual - about every 4 to 6 weeks. This gives your body a chance to absorb the increase better so a jump from 50 to 100 may be too much. I took 25mcg for 4 weeks, 50, 75 then 100 all increased in about 6/7 weeks and then dropped back to 75mcg.

Always ask the surgery for a print-out of your blood test results complete with the ranges and post here for someone to comment. She most probably increased your dose as your TSH was too high but it has to be gradual.

You have to be careful too not to miss doses as that can mess up things too. If I were you I would take 50mcg and work up to 100mcg. I am not medically qualified.

Hope things settle soon.
