Sorry to bother you again but I am having a really bad time sleeping as I get so hot at night. This is like menopause, but that was 17 years ago, and my Gynae says it must be high blood pressure and nothing to do with my hormones.
I’m still losing my hair and putting on weight.
I increased my levothyroxine to 100mg (from 75mg) and I take half a Cynomel (T3).
I have my latest results here. I used to have a link to a calculator but I seem to have lost it.
Thyroïde
✔Triiodothyronine libre (T3L) ...................4,6pmol/L (3,1 à 6,7)
✔Thyroxine libre (T4L) ............................19,00pmol/L (12,00 à 21,90)
✔T.S.H. ultra-sensible .............................0,03mUI/L (0,27 à 4,20)
It looks like T4 is OK but T3 is low and and TSH is suppressed.
I’d be grateful for any input on what I should do as my Endo is focused on TSH only. I’m running out of meds and wondering whether to ask my GP if she will prescribe them.
If you need other info I have posted before about vitamins and other information. I’m not sure how to show the link to this:
notdoingwell in order to alert members to your post, you have done correctly put an @ sign in front of their names but you have then to select the name you want as a few similar names might show up for selection.By clicking the one you want, then it's colour changes and the person is alerted as you will notice by your own name.
Hopefully your GP will prescribe for you as you will probably have a wait to see the Endo again. I'm sure he will and I also think the Endo would have written to your GP.
Do you think I need to tweak my doses? S100mg Levothyroxine ½ Cynomel. (I increased from the 75mg presribed by my Endo)
If you had been on the 100mcg Levo for 6-8 weeks before this test then if those were my results I would leave Levo as it is and increase Cynomel by 1/4 of a tablet. Retest 6-8 weeks later, ensuring that last dose of Levo is 24 hours before test and last dose of Cynomel is 8-12 hours before test - splitting dose of Cynomel and adjusting time the day before if necessary.
Are your nutrient levels optimal:
Vit D - 100-150nmol/L or 40-60ng/ml
B12 - top of range
Folate - at least half way through range
Ferritin - half way through range
Hair loss can be due to certain vitamin deficiencies:
Just to add to the great advice given.......have you checked your temperature? Feeling hot doesnt mean your temperature will be raised some time it can be lower! Feeling hot at night like you describe is all part of your hyopthyroid symptoms and Will settle as your treatment becomes optimal.
Great advice! it took me a good while to realise that when I felt extremely hot at night and was throwing duvet off I was actually very cool (checked temp) and undermedicated.
What tempersture is it.? The "normal range" is quite wide! Mine was normal at 36.4C but since I corrected my b12 levels it rose to 36.7C and I felt much much better.
Check your blood sugar levels. I was too hot for years till i worked out if blood sugar rises i heat up. Blood sugar can rise if i eat carbs and it can rise if i go too long Without eating. This is caused by the liver releasing glucagon and insulin rising to combat it...
I had just these symptoms and my Endo changed my brand of Thyroxine to Eltroxin from Teva and raised my dosage. Possibly the most enlightening aspect was my mood improved notably - I had not realised how low/flat my mood was. I feel notably better on Eltroxin but each prescription has to be GP approved.
My Endo was convinced to listen to my symptoms because my brother tested positive for the T3 gene and he is now given T3 and T4 by his Endo. It is only with proof of this gene that you can get T3 prescribed, but I am sure hundreds of thyroid conditions are not being adequately medicated because the NHS doesn’t do this testing. My brother’s kidneys are damaged by the long period of T3 inadequacy but he only got himself gene tested because his symptoms were bad (sleep, sweating, weight, memory, food intolerances) and he knew how to understand this complex condition.
And
Also stating the obvious.... I changed my duvet tog to a summer tog as the temperature rose in spring and this actually helped overheating which returned a few weeks ago (actual weather seems more like autumn than summer I know!!) .
