Hello, I'm really struggling in this area but have resorted to BMI Hospitals and Beardwood have a Dr Wilkinson that specialises in Thyroid. Dr Savage deals with Thyroid at Highfield, Rochdale. 0161 282 9231. I hadn't realised Endo's have their own areas of specialism too. I think from my research Dr Robinson is Diabetes. Scary that your Endo may not be any better than the GP. No recommendations from patients though. Failing all that it's Dr Skinner!

Not much really Dr. Robinson specialises in diabetes as I was informed when I called his secretary. It's not what I need. I have really struggled to find someone who will see me without a GP referral he wont' refer me at ll, so I can't claim on medical insurance and have to pay private.
I have found though and this was through Harley St. They recommended a Dr A. Mukherjee who also has clinics at the Spire, Manchester Hale clinic. I have spoken to her secretary and she sounds great, her credentials read good too. I haven't been able to find patient recommendations on her though so it's always down to your own experience.
She starts with FULL blood tests and goes through with such fine detail I'm told. Just what I need. Apparently many women have been turned around in weeks due to correct diagnosis and treatment. She charges £250 for 50 minutes appointment though!
My GP has suggested Depression, then CFS then Fybromyalgia and now Peri-menopausal (don't have symptoms) with my readings TSH 4.7 (0.3 - 5.5) and T4 10 (10.4 - 24.4) and thinks I'm OK still with a lot of miserable symptoms after 2 half years. I have refused diagnosis and medication for all. I know the difference! I am on Thyroxine but it's very low at 50mcg.
...hence my predicament.

That's really good to know, I may try calling in the future. I want to see what I can get on the NHS first but i'm running out of patience.
I am in the process of changing surgery's at the moment to see if I have any luck with a new GP. If that doesn't work then I think I will just pay to have more tests. I've just Googled TSH as I've only ever seen TFT on my blood test form. Perhaps i'm not getting all the test I should! I've never been given the details of my blood work but I'm going to request this information. I'm usually just told yes its normal or no its under.
My GP just tells me to see how I feel in a few weeks, but I've been told this several times now and I don't feel any better. I'm on 50mg too but from what I've read although my thyroid is now 'normal' I don't think its converting the T4 to T3. I'm going to discuss this theory with a new doctor. My main concern at the moment is my fertility as I also have PCOS which is probably connected. I've got an appointment for that in a few months so i'm going to bring up the hypothyroidism then too. I also read something about the thyroid being connected to estrogen levels which could be part of the reason I have felt worse since coming off the contraceptive pill!
