Has anyone used Medichecks, Thyroid UK are promoting them at the moment and there is a discount code for 15% off. Basic TSH, FT3 and FT4 is only £39 less the discount but same on Blue Horizon is £49.
Medichecks, has anyone used them?: Has anyone... - Thyroid UK
Medichecks, has anyone used them?
As they are new onto Thyroiduk.org not so many might have used them as the other two labs.
Members who have done so will respond and I would think, at present (and may be wrong) that they have an introductory price.
don't think they do the reverse T3 at the mo.
Janey121314 Yes they do reverse T3. Either on it's own (not much use because you need FT3 to work out the ratio) or there are 3 bundles that includes rT3 test.
It's not a fingerprick test though.

was just going to get a basic TSH, FT3 and FT4 to see if that's the reason for feeling so tired again before going to the doctor. Got B12 tested at doctor because of tinnitus just before Christmas and it was 2,000, thought I might give the supplements a break for a little while as was taking Jarrows 5,000 B12.
Jay23 The information about the reverse T3 was directed to Janey121314 because she's under the impression that they don't offer testing for that. I replied direcly to you further down about my experience with Medichecks.
What about your Vit D and Ferritin? Have those been tested? Low ferritin especially can cause fatigue.
SeasideSusie I'm also taking Solgar Gentle Iron 20mg and Better You DLux 3000 Vit D. Did ask my doctor if she would check Vit D, iron etc again after 6 months of supplements but was told they would only do it after a year which will be approx. May before I can ask for it again.
Which ever you use, you really need to check levels of vitamin d, b12, folate and ferritin as well, if not done recently. These all need to at good (not just average) levels for thyroid hormones (our own or replacement ones) to work in our cells
Usual advice on ALL thyroid tests, is to do early in morning, ideally before 9am. No food or drink beforehand (other than water) If you are taking Levo, then don't take it in 24 hours before (take straight after). This way your tests are always consistent, and it will show highest TSH, and as this is mainly all the medics decide dose on, best idea is to keep result as high as possible
As you have Hashimoto's then you may find adopting 100% gluten free diet can really help reduce symptoms, and may lower antibodies slowly over time too.
Excellent free web based document-series - re-running, starting March 1st
Masses of advice for all thyroid issues, but especially for Hashimoto's or Graves
Hi - I have used them a couple of times now. Their kirs are good and they use the same lab as blue horizons - County Patholgy. Their website on which you view results is also good. Just one caution, I recently ordered 2 lots of thyroid tests at same time to be used a few weeks apart and they combined them into the same kit so couldn't be used separately. Their customer service did sort it and sent me out new kits quickly, but just be aware multiple orders will be combined

Yep I've used them a couple of times. Would recommend, except ignore Doc comments and post results on here!!
Jay23 I've used them too, no problems at all and very quick to send results to you.
Hi , I have done the medichecks test you are refering to and it was simple, the results are held on line and printable if you wish, you can give personal history and explain what you are trying to get out if the checks, this allows the dr reviewing the results to have context - or you can choose to skip the review and have the results slightly quicker.
The 15% offer is only on until the 28th but they have Thyroid Thursday each week with different tests reduced for the day, I got the £39 test reduced to £29. I have only had one order issue and it was immediately resolved with a quick email.
The thyroid test ranges are comparable to the ones my NHS Dr uses which makes life easier.
do you then take the medichecks results to your nhs GP? do GPs accept results from medichecks as correct or do they repeat them?
Hi @tiredBFmum, post your results on here, you get some great advice. I then went to my GP armed with information. After discussion she agreed to let me increase by another 25mcg accepting the Medichecks results which I was surprised about.
