Yes, it's getting quite frightening isn't it. I'm getting quite fed up with how the government is painting a picture of sick and disabled people as lazy scroungers and taking away the essential help they were getting to help them live

I know how you feel I'm scared also. I wish I could work but I would be off sick more than in work. I have thyroid problems taking 175 a day, fybromyalgia, ive had major spinal surgery which has not worked, I have neck problems which give me 3/4 migraine type headaches a week on which they said wont operate on as said is to dangerous, my knees are giving way on me and left knee has had surgery 3 times already, my hands are starting to twist on my fingers and the joints are painful. My feet are painful and I have nerve damage as wel with pains down legs. I wish there was something that could be done to let me work but I know there is not. Even morphine tablets are not helping, me and my wife even are not sleeping together as keep her awake to much. Maybe a magic wand would help. The government are a joke. This country is going downhill. So petition signed.

Hi Wayne, I am sorry for the pain and discomfort you suffer. I had a partial thyroidectomy which was when I was very young with my second baby then aged only 3 years. It was a terrible op and time I went through raising two children and my Husband away at sea. No one cared about me much as the months and years went by. I then in 2009 was found to have a brain tumour and could not use my left leg or arm, but I survived and worked hard lon walking and using my arm. I was never praised but just got on with things. mostly unoticed . I eventually was able to retrieve my driving licence after three years. Then told DWP I wanted to get back to work if I could. Prematurely they swiped away my mobility car and all my benefits as a result. It stinks and is totally barbafric whats happening. The wrong people are judging disabled people adn having a laugh at us it feels. Whats Cameron really doing as prime Minister, why has he allowed this and what does the future bring. Yes its very true people will commit suicide or die early unprotected in this country, while MP's are allowed to charge the tAX PAYER FOR SECONDHOMES FOR THEIR RELATIVES TO LIVE IN. while some poor disabled person dies of cold this winter.

Hi bellybean, so sorry you have suffered so much and it hurts for me to see all suffer so much again with all this pressure and anger, it is going to cause so much upset and depression. I feel sometimes I've had enough and it's my family that keep me sane but sometimes it's brought on again by things like this, our government is an embarrassment.

bellybean in reply toWayne1967

Hiya Wayne, thanks for your kind message and caring. I am so proud that you have been strong and together we can all fight this over time and gain strength from one anothers situations. I am amazed what I have overcome in my own right and am now getting back towards my work, but this time with an Assistant working with me as my brain is still good and all my Mental faculties are in good order despite the tumour, so I am so lucky as it was just at the surface and had not developed too much. So the future will be good hopefully and when I get back to work and earn I will fight this cause very strongly to prtect those not so lucky as me and it seems many people don't have this aspect of going back to work to look forward to and it is very worrying. There seems to be a lacking of equality and Mandatory skills like this understanding of treating people correctly in Society and practices and policies are falling by the wayside amongst professional standards in the Medical profession and workplaces relating to the Disabled. How can our Nation (or even Globally for that matter) have slipped backwards like this?, its shocking as things should be evolving not looking down on the weak people in society, who are not to blame for their position, its hitting people when they are down it seems. Its also a lack of faith and religion I feel, too much internet coldness and not relating well to the real world by society. I don't mind people saying they don't believe in God but it can lead to taking Human life for granted with no anchors for genuine concern and compassion. Well sail onwards and upwards Wayne I am always here and never ever give up as others need your courage and influence. God bless you. Happy Christmas to you dear.

Done, and thanks for bring the petition to my/our notice.

I am one of the people that it is going to affect. I am 65 next May but if I had been born a month earlier in April, I would have been allowed to remain on DLA with no review. I have a Life Time Award of DLA. How can the government chop and change like this? Now I will have to re-apply for PIP and they have made it virtually impossible to claim. I, like a lot of other disabled people on DLA get higher rate mobility and I use mine for a motability vehicle. I will be totally housebound if I lose my car, as will thousands of others. As I live alone, I rely on a paid carer from my DLA. Frightened witless as what is going to happen and how I will cope. Sorry for the rant. x

Many feel like this. - it is shocking, and sorry if it has made you feel bad.. but I do always put stuff on forums if I think people power can be activated... x

Paulasams profile image
Paulasams in reply toboo16

Hi boo 16 please do not fear what has yet to come.

If this silly PIP gets through, take your new application form to your local Citizen Advice and they will help you to complete it.

I am sure that you will have a copy of your last completed DLA form. bring that with you.

If you can complete all personal details and bank details yourself. Some GP's will also add their own statement to the form and this speeds up the process

Stress may affect your health issues so please do not worry, people who have real health issues will be awarded this if it gets through.

Thanks, Mary. The government has also announced a delay in reassessing most disabled people receiving DLA for PIP till Oct 2015 (after next election)!

Hi Silky, when was this announced? Boo x

SilkyJ profile image
SilkyJ in reply toboo16

Hi Boo

It's on their website.

dwp.gov.uk/policy/disabilit...

"Existing DLA claimants

Existing Disability Living Allowance claimants who are aged 16 to 64 on 8 April 2013 will be affected by the introduction of Personal Independence Payment, even if they have an indefinite or lifetime award of DLA.

We will write to all existing DLA claimants in February and March 2013 with more information.

Personal Independence Payment is being introduced in stages over a number of years.

October 2013 – if there is a change in how a health condition or disability affects an individual, or they reach the end of an existing award of DLA, then we will invite them to claim Personal Independence Payment.

From 2015 – we will start to contact everyone else receiving DLA (unless they report a change in how their health condition or disability affects them, or if their award is due to end). We will write to individuals in plenty of time and they do not need to contact DWP now.

There is no automatic transfer from Disability Living Allowance to Personal Independence Payment."

Signed it. I don't get DLA. in fact I have been on ESA for nearly twelve months. This will stop in January. That's my income gone. NO MONEY. Thank you Mr P.M. and with my pension put back three and a half years, all my hubby and I will have to live on is his pension. (He has had cancer twice, and not a penny from the government.) Lets hope this petition works.

With the help of a very nice lady at our local Jobcentre Plus I filled in my special needs son's DLA Review Form. I have been his main carer since his birth 36 years ago (with much needed help from my husband) and because of this I was unable to go out to work, although I worked freelance at home (with thyroid problems of my own). Because I earned over approx. £50. (Carers Allowance ?) I could not claim this allowance and therefore now can only claim a partial Government Pension. I never earned enough to pay into a private pension. You really are caught all ways, and I still have to be an unpaid carer even though I am supposed to be retired. Going through a bad patch at the moment with aches and pains and very sore skin after yet another dose of antibiotics. Beause of the antibiotics I hae just started taking Symprove (which has been mentioned before on this forum) and will post my findings in a month or so as to whether it helps.

Enough said, will just wish everyone a Happy Christmas and healthier New Year. Janet.

boo16 profile image
boo16 in reply tonightingale-56

Can you not claim Carer's Allowance even though you earn over the limit ( I though the limit was in the regon of £70 or so) Would this then not give you an 'underlying entitlement' so that your State Pension would then build up some? Just a thought if I am correct x

nightingale-56 profile image
nightingale-56 in reply toboo16

Hi boo, Once you have started drawng your government pension you can no longer claim Carer's Allowance. You cannot claim two benefits. Was not aware that Carer's Allowance had gone up to £70., as it was some time ago that I tried to claim. I have been drawing my government pension for 7 years now (didn't realise it had been so long). Have a Happy Christmas. Janet.

boo16 profile image
boo16 in reply tonightingale-56

Hi, Janet, didn't realise that you were already claiming you State Pension, I just thought that you were under pensionable age and was trying to 'build' it up but missing out on the automatic credits should you be caring for someone.

ritz profile image
ritz in reply tonightingale-56

the earnings allowance is below £100 and you can claim it with many other benefits including state pension, you may not get the full amount but it it may increase other benefits

here is a link to the dwp website that explains it?

the government has sponsored a 5 a fruit diet

was this factored in in the budget

it not

the budget is illegal by braking its own rules

trw99 - Pity that the government don't explain this to the hospital catering service. I was only allowed to chose one veg a day!!! Portion size did not even make up one tablespoon.

i also think we all should write to our mp's as well as sign the petition

this government is planning and has started to implement big changes to (destroy) the whole benefit system. It's not just DLA to pip which is bad enough as it will accessed via ATOS who already act as gatekeepers on ESA now they have been given pip to tear apart too. the only aim of the change is to get people off benefits.

the other big change will be jsa esa tax credits and housing benefit will disappear and be called universal credit paid once a month, with sanctions up to a year for non-compliance.

so please get those emails/letters of to your mp

the only glimmer of hope on the horizon is that the start dates for all of these changes are being pushed back as more problems appear.........so it might still make a difference if you complain to your mp especially if they are a tory and responsible for forcing these changes though to destroy the benefit system

Done it Mary-a very worthwhile petition! x

done my bit = i contacted many mps both s.n.p and labour and got no where

you should go to facebook - glasgow against atos - you should check out the stuff they are finding out about politicians, atos, etc its unbelievable!

I would get on their side, start petitioning and protesting too!!

I wonder if they will listen to me if I told them that my great great grandad was a labour MP....bugger this I am gonna contact them
