I have just received an order of three so called Cool Jams (perspiration absorbing nightwear), and the results have been nothing short of amazing. I have slept in one of them for two nights, and I have been able to sleep through the night, without waking up every other hour or so.
The instructions for care is to use a scented detergent and to let them soak in Oxyclean from time to time, as all wicking products absorb moisture and perspiration which can sometimes cause an odour after repeated use. Now to my very practical question: Oxyclean is not available where I live, but can easily be ordered. But I have no idea how it works...if they recommend letting the clothing soak in it, does that mean it's not a detergent to use in the washing machine?
Hi and thanks for the tip on cool jams. I suffer from night sweats as well and have insomnia so will definitely look into buying. Oxyclean is like Vanish and you add it to your laundry to remove stains etc. I reckon they recommend soaking to remove the body odour from the fabric. You’d still need to use detergent. I hope this helps.
There are several Oxiclean products - just to confuse.
One, I think the original, is a powder oxygen bleach. There are other similar products but can't remember any names! Used as a whitener- to reverse the greyness many light clothes sink into.
Ingredients:
Ingredients from (M)SDS/Label
Chemical CAS No / Unique ID Percent
Sodium carbonate 000497-19-8 30-50
Sodium carbonate peroxide 015630-89-4 50-70
The product may vary across markets. But any similar substance would probably work exactly the same.
Thanks! Yes, it's confusing to say the least...I don't need to use it as a fabric whitener, nor as a stain remover...but I think I found a product that will work. Maybe even Vanish, which is available where I live, would work...
