Graves disease fatigue

Hi

Thanks to everyone for the replies to my previous post. I have now had updated blood test results which the endocrinologist is happy with and is keeping me on 5 mg Carbimazole.

March test results:

TSH - 0.512 (range 0.27-4.2)

T4 - 16.8 (range 12-22)

T3 - 4.6 (range 3.1-6.8)

The first week post blood tests ( been on 5mgs for 4weeks) I started feeling much better generally but 2weeks further on (6 weeks on 5mg) and I am again really struggling with crippling levels of fatigue.

In addition to the 5mg Carbimazole I am taking Vitamin D as my previous results were low (41 nmol/l)

Endo didn’t say that my B12 or Folate were low although based on previous replies on the forum I have ordered the Igenuus B Complex tablets.

Any further advice would be appreciated. I am due back at work next week but not sure how I am going to manage this with the level of fatigue.

thanks

Has endocrinologist ever offered block and replace?

Block with Carbimazole and replace with levothyroxine

Hi Slow Dragon

No he hasn’t mentioned that as an option. His plan is that I stay on 5mgs Carbimazole for another 8 weeks before a repeat blood test.

Thanks

Hey there again :

Your TSH bounced back into range in January 2025 - and can only repeat what I replied in your last post -

Your T3 and T4 are in range but ' low ' and you are dealing with both Graves and Hashimoto's and this crippling fatigue could be eased by switching to Block & Replace - thereby adding in a measured dose of T4 thyroid hormone replacement to increase your low T3 and T4 levels -

You could chop the 5mcg Carbimazole into 2 and see how you go at 2.5 mcg daily ?

Thanks Pennyannie

Will consider that as an option.
