T3 Advice Please

Hello all...if anyone is available to help today, please does anyone know the name of a good T3 source that does not contain mannitol? My pharmacy usually manages to source my regular supply from Mercury Pharma but they are hitting a brick wall on finding any atm. They supply the 20mcg dose and I have to split it down myself as the smaller versions are too expensive for my doctor to prescribe.

I'm not sure which one most folks are using presently but if anyone on here has advice on which brand they use/can source without problems, I'd be grateful to hear.

Many thanks in advance.

NHS options are

Teva T3 - doesn’t contain lactose or mannitol

Morningside T3 - doesn’t contain mannitol, does contain lactose

Thanks SlowDragon. That's interesting. The pharmacist called back and said Teva did have mannitol in so I went with Morningside in the end. She must have got it wrong. Don't think I have a lactose issue though so fingers crossed.

Which one do you use or do you get yours privately?

Teva Levothyroxine contains mannitol - I have never tried it …..

Teva T3 is lactose free and Mannitol free

I am gluten and dairy free so yes on lactose free levothyroxine (Vencamil) and Teva T3

Changing to lactose free brands was significant improvement

I seem to be becoming more intolerant of things than I used to but I eat yoghurt and take milk in tea still so I'm assuming that I'm okay with lactose. How interesting that a pharmacist got it wrong - goodness me. Wonder if the Mercury Pharma stuff I've been using has lactose in.... :)

Has there been any generalised complaint about Morningside T3 are you aware? Slightly wishing I'd going with Teva lio now as it seems so easy for them to get. But I'll have to try the Morningside now she's ordered me a bottle.

I'm grateful (and aware of the privilege) of getting it on NHS anyhow.

Have just had a look at the bottle insert and apparently Mercury Pharma Lio does contain lactose.

Yes only Teva is lactose free

Loose in a plastic container

Morningside is blister pack …not a bottle

Are Teva small round pills that one can chop up like Mercury?

Yes

I find they cut reasonably well into 1/4’s with sharp scalpel

Don't know if this has ever come up on the forum but I was listening to a podcast by and American Thyroid doctor who says that over there one can get T2 which does the same job but is not 'active' like T3 and therefore causes less problems with heart palpitations etc. I don't know if that is true...have you heard any such thing? She says people are buying and using it simply to stop being overweight.

General view here is that’s a lot of “hype” about T2

Many many members find T3 makes heart rate steadier

Thanks for that. I must say, T3 can definitely make MY heart beat erratically. I have to be very careful not to accidentally take too much. Given chopping the 20mcgs into 5mcgs with pill cutter and even craft knives. Still, better than not having any!
